Was talking to a mate the other day, who said to use de-ionised water to wash your car with, as it's better for the paintwork....
Wondered if this was true or not?...? I noticed the other day they sell it in Tesco's so I may try it....

at work i normally use de-ionised water to top-up battery's !
so i wouldn't have thought its any good for your paint work, although i might be wrong.

the pro detailers do use something along those lines because its completely pure water and doesnt leave any streaks or dust marks like standard water so its very safe for paint. only reserved for the seriousley hardcore though.

Didn't those Flash washers deionise the water when it sprayed it out? Meant to leave less water marks as it runs off the car easier. When i tried it out on my mums motor it seemed to work pretty well.

Yeah (me being the mate) used it on sunday at a show, ran out of QD and got informed about de-ionised water. it runs off the car like water runs off with wax, and doesnt leave any nasty marks and residue that water leaves.
Good little tip i think :), cheap as chips aswell!

VXR Marc on Detailing world uses this on most details he does, mainly as a rinse, doesn't leave any marks or anything, He uses those big water machine things that you get in offices though! Rather large bottles!

Yeah, basically de-ionised water doesnt leave any water marks and requires very little drying- you can achieve a similar affect by using rain water.
Principally, de-ionised water or rain water is used where people have 'hard-water' running through their taps with rocky and mineral deposits in the water which makes the water hard and leaves residue and stains, de-ionising it makes it soft and pure- rain water is also known to be extreeeeeemely soft and good for your paint work.

A few people pour pure water on to the car after they ave washed it to help it dry with out leaving lime scale marks on the car.
You can use this: http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=105
Or you can just dry your car with a waffle weave towel which will do the same job...

i heard that if you use de-ionised water to clean your car, you can leave it to dry naturally and it wont leave water marks... dont know if thats true tho?

Mainly yeah, you might be left with the odd bit that has dripped down, but generally it works, similarly to rain water which glides off beautifully.

De-Ionised water......good shit!
I got bought a flash cleaner, it is shit dont get me wrong but it does have a water de-ioniser in it....
Works fuckin great to rinse the car with!!! Water Literally falls off the car.....
You can let it dry naturally but it will still leave marks in some places where it builds up

the only water that should not be drunk is distilled water as this dehydrates the body.
