i have been debating wether to not to strip my saxo (bering in mind i have a 1.0) i dont really carry passengers in the back of my car and if anyone does wont a lift it is a good excuse if you dont wont to give them one lol:p
so is there much difference in weight loss and power gain???

i have stripped my vtr out ready for a huge install and it does make it feel faster and top speed is increased however it sounds like you are driving a van from the inside!!!

Mine did feel quicker and felt more fun lol. But i have since put everything back for no reason really.

Mine sounded nothing like a van, it sounded awesome+more like a racing car tbh.

TBH it won't make a huge difference as for every 10kg of weight saved you gain theoreticaly 1BHP. Depends how far you want to go like getting rid of the carpet, rear seats, spare wheel etc. You would probably notice better mpg than 0-60 mph times tbh:y:

how can you gain bhp just from removing weight, the engine still produces same bhp, you just get a better power to weight ratio, so you'll accelerate quicker....
i wish i could take my bonnet and doors of and get another 10bhp...hmmm lol

Im taking the back seats out, only so no-one can have lifts (and the back seat has a fag burn in it!)
I will carpet mine over though.

notice the word ive highlighted
what he means is the weight taken out improves the power to weight ratio's so every 10k taken out could work out to the equivilent of 1bhp
hes not said taking things out gives you more bhp

Agreed, no need to be nasty, I'm sure it was just a bit of a type-o...
It's worth noting that it makes a difference where the weight is reduced also. Reducing "un-sprung" weight has a much more benifical impact on handling. In addition to this, reducing weight much higher up in the car has extra benifits too. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation, as you want the weight to be in the lower areas of the car, yet, you don't want un-sprung weight. (weight that is not supported by the suspension, such as wheels, disks, calipers, etc...)
For performance in a small car, reducing its overal weight makes a BIG difference. Simply speaking, take a big car like BMW 330 Ci, and stick a few people in it. You won't notice much of a difference in the acceleration, as the ratio of power to weight hasn't changed that much with the addition of the people placed in the car. Then take a VTS for example, and put some people in it. You will definately notice the difference in acceleration now, as the power to weight figure will have change fairly dramatically.
Remember, reducing the weight doesn't only help acceleration, it also helps braking, handling and fuel economy. ;)

depends what you use your saxo for. i had mine stripped, and i couldn't stand doing 40 miles a day motorway driving or so in it
but yeah there is a huge difference

do any long journeys on A roads rather than the motorway and make sure you have a motorsport exhaust to make the music. Even the smaller TU engines sound good.
Don't think just strip

My personal opinion is that there is a difference, well what the hell am I saying
of course there is. By reducing the weight by anything there will always be
a difference.
Removing the spare wheel, rear seats and insulation will see a few kg's dropped,
but again IMO, I doubt you would feel the difference. Its all on paper you
will notice the difference.

It made a big difference for me. I haven't had the car on a weighbridge, so I don't know its current weight, but I'm guestimating around 850 - 875 kg. That's about 75 - 100 kg lighter than standard. That's the difference of having a passanger (who doesn't miss too many meals) in your car with you. It will definately make a difference. Without my car being as light as it is, I don't think I'd be able to shame those silly billy Clio Sport owners. Ooops, did I say that out loud? ;) :)

how and where can you get your car weighed?
you mentioned a weighbridge!!, where could i find one and get my car weighed?

Well, lorries and that have to get their vehicles weighed all the time. So probably have a gander around that type of area.
