Hey all, I have a phase 1 Saxo with 1.1 engine and have decided to give an induction kit a go. I'm thinking about going for either K&N or Green open filter and was wondering what actually comes with the 'complete' kit for these? If I completely remove the standard air box and all piping then is there enough piping in the kit to be able to position the filter at the front of the engine bay? Also, what would I do with all the hoses that are currently plugged in to the standard air intake system? Opinions on whether K&N or Green are better are welcome! Thanks for any help :y:

Honestly mate i wouldnt go for an open filter because of heat soak in engine bay:n: , go and get a decent enclosed filter, will cost more but much better!!! BMC or Viper Pipercross!! :y:
If you get the kit that is designed especially for the car you will get all the pipes and equipment you need, if you go for a cheap universal you will need to get seperate stuff to add on!!!
Ive just bought a viper kit for £240, depends what you are looking for, performance, noise or price??

Whats the point in getting a bmc for a 1.1? if you want noise mate then whack either of the open cones you mentioned on. You wont get any better performance but it will sound much better

Like Ben said, you arent going to get much performance if you spend your money on an enclosed filter for a 1.1. If you want noise then an open cone filter will suit your needs.
Personally i would buy a drop-in panel filter. To me, K&N and Green are very much the same so just go for whichever one you like.

if you get a decent enclosed then you would be able to swap it onto another car. Certainly the BMC is great in that regard. the CDA-130 is the same in all kits and you just get different pipework to make it fit the next car

whats the point? its a 1.1! its not gonna make any difference. People have fitted panel filters to VTRs and said they cant tell the difference. May aswell have the meaty noise

open filter = heat soak
therefore making the car even worse than it is :y:

And heat soak will really make that much of a difference on a low performance engine? id be very surprised if there was a noticeable difference either way.

When I had my open filter on it was a lot meatier sound, didnt feel any loss in performance tbh
I tried my mates BMC because he ws splitting his car
Less noise and no power gain really
Needless to say there both off now standard ftw lol

You only get heat soak in traffic etc..Also its not a race car we are talking about here..
I agree with Ben..
