hi just wondered if you caould buy a car battery and just mount it in your boot and run your amp etc straight from there instead of main battery? if so how long do batterys normally last if i done that?

batteries normally have a 6 year lifespan.
but i would buy the yellow top battery, but then you will also get a split charging relay to join on to the alternator so when the car is running it charges both batteries at the same time.
just connecting the terminals together doesent normally work and your battery will go dead alot quicker

you couldnt do it coz youd get like fw hours then it would go dead. you need it connected to your alternator to charge it

as pointed out, you need a SPLIT CHARGE kit.
basically, when the engine is on, the relay lets both batteries work as one. but when the car is OFF and you want to listen to music, the relay SHUTS and only the rear battery is used. (dont forget when doing this your headunit is still running from the stndard battery ;)
