Yo..

After my "enthusiastic" track session at Trax, when i pulled off the motorway near my home i noticed a clunking coming from the front left..

Upon closer inspection it only does it on right hand lock and only when the throttle is applied..

Right hand lock + throttle = Clunking
Right hand lock - throttle = normal

I'm stumped..Thinking it could be either a wheel bearing or CV joint..No splits in the CV gaitor either..:panic:

I have checked all the bolts etc in that area and all seems tight, also checked for play in the wheel to see if the wheel bearing was screwed but no play as of yet..

Will check it all again tomorrow..Anyone got any idea's?

Sorry if this has been posted before but the search button told me to fcuk off..;)

Ive heard people say this could be a wishbone before mate. And its maybe possible for a driveshaft to go even if its properly greased? Whats the clunk like does it worsen with harder acceleration? If you take me out in it ill know stright away if its cv relatred or not, ive had 5 of em go so im used to it now

i had this problem mate,at first i thought it was the bottom ball joint but i replaced this and it continued,

check the bolts at the back of the wishbone under the pedals in the footwell.they could be loose, put washers behind he nuts if they havent already.
hope this helps

I have this sort of problem, however i think its down to my clutch, its far too loose. In my opinion I would check the gaitors first cos you can do them yourself and it hardly costs anything, check your ball joints, wishbones, driveshafts etc.

Cheers

I just went out and checked everything, no splits in the gaitor, no movement anywhere either..

Going to let the problem develop abit more i think..

Mmmm...your in the exact same situation as me my friend, you have a knocking noise but don't have a clue what the hell it is. Like I said my clutch isn't right, my mates have all said it not where it should be in terms of position, it feels so loose.

Cheers

Lol. Fair enough mate, I hope you manage to work the problem out. I wish something would break on mine so I knew exactly what the problem was.

Thats not driveshaft then. Sounds like its probably suspension related, which makes sense seein as its driven hard lol

True..Will check all suspension related bolts tomorrow..Nothing is broken i dont think, just needs some tightening of some bolts i rekon..Hopefully that will sort it..:afro:

Do you reckon you could give me the low down next time i see ya. Mines due for one really but its got no SH at all so theres no point paying some spotty apprentice twat to do a half assed job and rape my wallet for it. Gonna need to train me in what oil i need and everything, i know shit all bout that side of things

Here we go..

Engine oil - Fully synthetic anything from 0w-40 upto 10w-40.

Brake fluid - DOT 5 any make tbh..

Fuel filter - Go to halfords and get whats listed for your car..Will be a champion filter i expect..

Air filter - Again go to halfords..whatever is listed..

Antifreeze - Not sure, never changed it tbh..

Oil Filter - Halfords again..

Spark plugs - Bosch..Can go for the Super 4 if your feeling rich..if not just the normal Bosch ones like i use..

As for the gearbox oil that will be repleced when shaft/shafts are done..

Update..

Defo CV joint..Checked it today..Clunks when you rotate the wheel..Gets really tight, hard to move then clunks and free's up..Does this everytime..Sound is coming from the CV joint for sure..:(

Could it be your bushes which have gone bud. As your suspension is super stiff and they are super standard lol?
