I doubt your premium insurrance will go up because you are not messing around with the engine to make it quicker. But tell them just incase.

2) Directline do take modified cars but i think you have to ring up and not do it over the net!

Good luck with directline...

I was told on a number of occasions that they wouldnt insure me if the car was modified because i was under 25

Should tell them as you have altered from orginal spec.
Also a VT kit will make the car more attractive to toe rags!

dont tel em about the kit mate

You have a mishap and have to claim, asser sees kit, insurance void, no payout, possible criminal charges!:clapping:

i called them and was told as i'm under 25 they won't insure it if i modify the car in anyway. i think its a load of crap tbh i wouldn't have minded to much if they said my premium would go up, but just refusing is damn annoying especially as i haven't got any no-claims yet so by changing insurer i'd have to start all over again rather than using the 5months i've already got.

bastards!

unlucky mate,

i would recomend high performance direct or adrian flux when come to re-insure if u want to mod,

i had a claim of theft before i even had a licence and car was compleatly standard

put a few mods on my fez when had it and decalred all of them with h/p direct and they didnt mind jus cost went up slightly

and when got saxo went it aflux and declard all my mods on it and not altered at all!!

its not worth the risk not to declare!!!

even if u are a gd driver and u THINK u wont crash theres alaways others on the road that myt go into u or even get motor stolen or broke into!

thats my advice anyway lol

Dont tell them. Anything happens just say you got it like that and it looks like a saxo to you.

Direct line do get funny when it comes to mods, they've let me off with mine up until now possibly as they know my part time job is as a Police officer.

But they've made it clear that as soon as any engine mods are done then they cant continue to insure me.

Quinn direct if i remember correctly have a pretty good ruling that any mods done that arent engine mods then premium doesnt increase, however like direct line they wont insure engine mods or hike the premium up bigtime then.

Personally when my insurance changed after the engine transplant ill be paying slightly extra and going with a proper performance based company where if, in the event of an accident they will repair the car exactly how it is declared to them.

Most of the day to day companies will only repair your car to 'factory' standard even if you have declared mods, and wont take the cost of extra mods into account if they have to pay out on a 'total loss' claim.

Plenty to bare in mind there, but for a VT kit which is classed as a 'Manufacturors optional extra' the increase in any premium should be minimal as it is an approved 'add on'

hi ive got a phase 1 1.1 saxo and was goin to insure it with direct line the only mods ive done so far is changed the grill for the different shaped one but not meshed it or anything put mirror caps on and the ICE (which they say is ok up to £1000 worth. The only other thing i was going to do was fit alloys with this stop them insuring me? also should i tell them about the mirror caps and grill? (i was going to by the way lol) thanks everyone:y:
