what are the signs of the cluch being on its way out?? recently on my 1.1 ive noticed some strange smells coming through the vents when blowing cold air when im sitting in traffic or am at a standstill anywhare...im not keeping clutch at biting point or anythin, put it straight into neutral and its done 48,000 miles... its sort of a smoky smell, but i cant smell anything in the engine bay!! is this common or not? in the last couple of months ive had the head gasket done and had a new water pump and cambelt fitted, possibly something to do with that?
smell is getting worse and as u can imagine can be a bit worrying at times as it smells like someting is burning somewhere!!
thanks! stu.

Does it smell eggy?
Is the radiator filled to the correct levels?
Does it only do it when vents on cold?
Does it do it when car is hot and cold? i.e start the car from cold, turn heater up, then try it when the engines warmed up.
Do the revs climb while the car isn't pulling as quick (slipping clutch?)

it smells like someones having a bonfire outside...(ive only been driving 3-4 months and havnt noticed any changes in the clutch)
it does rev alot when getting up steep hills with me and 3 others in it and struggles to accelorate, but it does accelorate.. but i took it that was because its a 1.1! it pulls away fine though.
ill have a look at the fluids tomorrow, they were spot on when i checked a few weeks ait smells when its blowing cold air through, mainly when the engines been running for about 5 mins. but like i say i only notice it when the car is at a standstill with the engine running.
How high is the bite on saxos?
thanks!
