Heya folks, Im new to the forum, driving and saxo's!

After passing my test on Wednesday I went looking for a car, checked out a few 206 1.4LX's but they just didn't get me that giddy. Then I saw it.. The Saxo!
At first I was looking at a 2002 Saxo but the price was a little out of my budget, after a quick "Can you knock £XXXX off?" with the sales rep, and a chat with the manager the price still wasn't budging.

But then he muttered the words "We have another one round the back thou, let me see how much it is." shortly to return and give me the good news, this one was within my budget.

He then took me in to the *awaiting display* area and there it was, it had "buy me" wrote all over it!

At this point my face was lit up like a Christmas tree and after a close inspection and a test drive I shook his hand and started the paper work.

I just dotted the I's and crossed the T's on my first car, a 2001 VTR!
(Yes I'm an impulse buyer)

I got them to fit a whole new set of brake pads and it should be ready on Monday, Tuesday at the latest!

Once I got home I spent some time looking for insurance, the AA seemed to have the best cover coming out at just over £1100 with breakdown cover.
This seems pretty good so far, I'm 25 and have zero no claims bonus.

I hope I haven't come across as a rambling mad man! :panic:

Nice choice with the two tone! :D

There's about 5 on here that I can think of, one of them being a VTS. Really smart looking cars:)

I got a call today, it may be ready for tomorrow!

Now I just have to get my boss to give me the afternoon off!

Oh yeah, they said the gearbox bearings were making a funny noise, that's why it failed QC.

Is there anything I should be aware of before I pick it up?

simple things I can think of really:

Obviouslly that the "strange noise" has gone,
and that there's a smooth shift between gears. (depending on what you've drove before It may feel slightly stiffer than usual, but considerring it's a 2001 you should be fine)

other than that then i can't help you further.

that sounds like the thrust bearing has gone mate depending on the state of the gearbox mate a would put a other box in and keep the old 1 for a spare just incase you need one you can get a box fitted for around £200-£250 nice car there bud hope you enjoy it

Decent car - I'd change the rear lights (smoked) exhaust (piper / magnex) and number plates (standard), I don't really mind sunstrips but what I gather the general opinion is get them off ;)

Hope you enjoy it
