Hi there folks, new to the site and this is my first post, however I am in need to some urgent help if possible.

I have a 2001 Saxo Furio 1.4i. It has no modifications to the engine other than a K&N filter.

Yesterday the engine started to shudder whilst driving and when I cam to a stop the engine cut out completely as if stalled. After much effort I got it restarted but when the revs dropped down to tick-over it just cut out again. In order to get it home I had to sit at every set of lights and junctions with the revs at about 3000 rpm to stop it cutting out.

Last night I cleaned and oiled the K&N filter in the hope that was the problem. I refitted the filter today and it started ok and got me to work. When I got back from work today it started to shudder again a threatened to cut out. I turned off the engine and restarted and again once the revs dropped down below 1000rpm it just cut out. I also noticed the rev counter bounces down rather than just dropping smoothly.

I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this and any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

new lamba sensor buddy ;)

reads the exhaust gases coming out if its not right it tells the ecu to kill your engine mate just had this with his corsa.

take it to a garage and get a dio test done to it.

i had this problem on the VTS when the head gasket blew. Or might need new spark plugs?

Guys thanks for the advice. Just got a call from my garage, they ran a dio on it, checked the throttle bodies etc and concluded it needs a new map sensor. £150 for the part, labour and the dio. Don't know how reasonable this is but some feedback on whats being done and how well priced it is would be greatly appreciated.
