last night i had a flat battery when i finished work so i got a mate to come with his car and some jump leads and we jump started it. but then the car started going rev crazy! when sitting there with the engine on and doing nothing it goes up to 60,000 revs. i drove home like that and it was super jumpy. looked mega stupid sitting next to someone at the traffic lights while it was revving, they musta thought i was being a prick

this morning its stil like that?! whats wrong with it :(

sounds like ya throttle cable of rev limiter has got stuck somehow. wouldnt have thought jumping ya bettery could have done it though.

In the haynes manual there is a guide to follow which tells you how to reset the idle valve control (or something like this) which needs to be done each time the ecu is reset (I believe a flat battery could cause your ecu to reset as there would be no power going to the ecu). I can't remember the steps off the top pf my head but it's something like:
1. Turn on ignition for atleast 10secs
2. Turn off ignition for atleast 10secs
3. Turn on car

something like that anyway??

In you case though you may need to replace the battery before you can do this as it may not have enough power to start the engine

hi im havin the same problem at the moment with my saxo... it did this a few months ago and i changed the map sensor, coil pack and manifold and everything was fine for a few months until saturday night wen it suddenly reved up to 3000 revs and wouldn't move from 3000. it was spluttering real bad and when the revs eventually went back down to 1000 where they should be it was idling and sounded if it was going to cut out.

can someone help??its driving me crazy i havent had a car since the weekend!!!!!

Yea, the imobilizer makes the car do some crazy shit if u start it diffrently to the standard key in ignition and turn. Bump starting my old Saxo had some really weird effects. Indicator made weird noises, engine managment light came on, Battery light came on, Oil light flashed & revs were unushually high.
