this question is really about the rear dampers if i fit them do i have to mess about with the torsion bar twisting the splines etc... or do i just fit them and adjust them to desiered hight (adjustable height ones??)

You need to adjust the torsion bars as these act as springs on the rear of the car and it is the springs that decide the height of a car, not the dampers.

you get adjustable dampers but they only determine how bouncy the car will be e.g how much foot pounds of weight it takes to compress the spring an inch,if they r set on full the car will be dodgy on a corner as itl have hardly any chassis flex allowing the car to kick out rear end style
set them lower and when you go round a corner the car will lean a bit but be better quality than standard, not really much unless you do alot of track days!
