Starter motor on the way out?? mine went a few months ago, if you hammer it, it starts but it's a temporary fix, the starter is under the air filter area.
Could be a dodgy coil pack as well.
Hope this has helped.

If you kept trying to start it then it would have got flooded, had it rained at all? sometimes moisture or damp gets in the engine bay, spray some wd40 over the ht leads and this help. I have had this before.

no probs.... only does when hot..... not been raining....possible autochoke or lambda sensor

I reckon it could be your lambda sensor, not 100% but not sure if you should drive it.

If so, thats your immobilisor. :y:

sounds like there is no fuel geting in to the engine?? You could try taking out the plugs to see if they are wet or not? Also when it cuts out or doesnt start see if the key symbol is on the dash as my sister had this happening to her, changed the imobiliser and works fine.. hope that helps

new starter motor ftw. as for the cutting out, sounds like a fuel feed problem

You hear the starter motor clicking?
ScottG17

the starter moter seems fine.... it turns the engine over ok... just spluters to a start..... also the revs are all over the place.... between 500-1500 revs...
Also it is a 1.1 SPI model.... has no imobiliser in it....
Cheers... all repped!

Come to think of it it could be fuel related. Have a look at the fuel pump, the line coming from it should be rubber it may be slightly split or perished so a lack of fuel getting to the engine, new bits of rubber pipe are not much dosh.

if its spluttering, then maybe the fuel pressure regulator is playing up, so not supplying enough or too little maybe?
