Hi everyone,
Really sorry if this question has been asked many times before. But which is faster? I know the new C2 has something like 110BHP compared to the saxo VTR 90 Horses. but we all know that more horses doesn't alway mean it's faster. So my question to u all is which is faster out of the VTR models. The new C2 VTR or the Old Saxo VTR???????? smileys/smiley23.gif

well, my bro seemsa to like it just fine, looks nicer in the flesh, espec when parked infront of ur house, n its better built than the Sax, espec compared 2 my bros old Saxo, but then again, i think most cars were better built than that, its not too bad w/fuel either for a more powerful car than the 1.1

The C2 look shite and it's as simple as that! The C2 VTR and the VTS are slower than their respective Saxo counterparts! what's the point of that? What the hell were Citroen thinking?

looks better in real life then pics. the black grill is nice too!

yea, all for each to their own, but the thing is that new safety stuff has meant EVERY car on sale now is heavier, but the C2 has MUCH better safety in a crash copmpared w/a Saxo, which had 2 stars in the Euro NCAP, the C2 has double that, so any boyracers who buy it will b safer in the C2 than in their little Saxos when the6y next bend it round a tree smileys/smiley17.gif
Much more comfy inside too, the sports seats n comfy n yet VERY supportive, while in the Sax, i was slippin n slidin everywhere, much more space inside as well, cos i can actually fit into it! smileys/smiley3.gif

Bare in mind it was the base model your brother had, and yes the seats are shite. The saxo vtr/s have got pretty much the same seats as the c2.
Ripper3
26th November 2004, 00:29
no, not even CLOSE to bein true! The C2 BASE-MODEL has better seats then the VTR/S Saxos, much more supportive, but more comfortable aswell, n dont just read all the figures n stuff, the Saxo 1.1 felt MUCH faster than they said it was, n so does the C2, it defo goes upto 120mph, if u no wot i mean smileys/smiley4.gif
The seats also have side-airbags, which means they cant b anything like the Saxo seats, they have 2 b thicker just 2 house the side airbags.
Boot is small, but get the rear moving seats for like £100 n u get some other useful stuff if u buy the seats too, like a little tray at the front under the CD-player which is more capacious n useful than it may sound or look like.
If u dont want the VTRs semi-auto, then spend £1k more on the VTS or £500 less on the GT, both r bit quicker, but if u want more features, then buy the VTR, it has more standard equipment than the VTS n its more comfortable 2 use than the GT (or so my bro says)
For like another £300 u can get the Ministry of Sound version, which is a Sony headunit, n upgraded speakers all round, plus the body is strengthened alittle more i think or something like that to cope w/any extra volume so u dont hear rattling, but that might just haver been the one @ the Birmingham motorshow w/out rear seats smileys/smiley4.gif

A had a C2 for 9 months and a had to get rid of it cause it was crap!! A much prefer the saxo, yeah it was comfy but there was nae room in the back and everythin kept fallin apart. a think it was in the garage mare than it was in my drive way. They are slow as well.

26th November 2004, 00:37
my bros ones never fallen apart, apart from the glove box, but i think someone kinda hit it when it was open or sumat, but the only thing is that it dont stay open, n it fits shoppin in very well, espec 2 HUGE planks of wood that were about 2m or so, thewy defo fit inside (with the top of the tailgate open, which is more useful thatn havin the whole tailgate open) guess u might have got a dud
Oh, n it can go shoppin n can go on long trips 2, cos me, my bro, n his gf went 2 Birmingham, with the boot full, n the seats up, none of em moved forward 2 cope w/extra luggage (except for Taty's seat, but thats just cos i need a Maybach 62 2 have decent leg-room, believe me, i sat in one smileys/smiley4.gif ) n there was luggage enuf 4 like one week, instead of two days smileys/smiley5.gif
Then theres also the time we went x-mas shoppin! Fit in perfectly, but that might b cos we're cheap skates smileys/smiley5.gif

Didn't like the C2 when it first came out, but it has grown on me since. Like the GT and VTS but still wouldn't want one. Saxo looks better and while they were built by the work experience boys they are just so much fun. Plus as they are so light weight you can just fling them about like a hot hatch was made for! smileys/smiley4.gif

My bro just said now(very confusingly) something about how he wouldnt mind cin if any company could make a car w/out security features unless their TRULY needed by law (like seatbelts, u NEED them) but a proper car, not like Caterhams or Westfields, but proper cars w/a hard top n stuff so its more aerodynamic, n stuff, but so light that u can put one HUGE engine inside 2 power it w/huge force, etc...
but thats all i picked up from his random ramblings on
but i reckon i no the car he might mean, i found it a few days ago, type in K1 Attack into Google por sumthin, its a pretty cool car, neways...back to the C2, yea, i guesws i no wot u mean about the C2 bein 2 heavy, but like i said b4, the new safety regulations, n also the need 4 Citroens cars 2 b safer n better quality has meant more stuff inside 2 make it happen, meanin more weight, plus...uve also gotta excuse the French

Yea, its not their fault their French, but they have had some great ideas, look @ the C4! The C4 looks great for a hatch! Dont look like NEHING in its own car-class, much better lookin than the Xsara too. The C2 is VERY nice imo, but i guess no1 else here likes it that much, while the C5 how it is now is MUCH better lookin han the older version, much more individual than b4, while the old one looked just like a Mundaneo with some flaired up lights, this one is cool lookin n not so "look at me! I'm a rep n i think im the best!" n more "look at me! Im not a rep, but still look good in this reps car!"

Oh sorry, must have just dozed off for a moment..... smileys/smiley4.gif
Agreed the french have made "some" good(ish) cars, but look at the shit boxes also....
XM, 2CV smileys/smiley5.gif (could stop there really), any mid 1980's/1990's Renault, Picasso....
Still, each to their own i suppose...
Saxo is still better than a C2 though.</font>

I like the C2 actually. As Scott says though. Senso drive was a novel idea, but not very smart for the boy racers in us....!

Senso drive would have been good if it was any other company rather than citroen doing it.

look at aston martins efforts with the flappy paddle gearbox thing, its worse than the c2!
C2_VTR
26th November 2004, 03:34
yup!!!!!! they don't even change when you want it to! but mine on the other hand will change when you want!
I have noticed a HUGE difference in the gearbox from when it was new to what it is now, I was just on way home from girlfriends house and was checking how fast it changed gear and from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th the change was so quick i don't think i could do quicker in a manual!
put your foot on the floor and change at 6k rpm and will change very quick to next gear!

What is the point in the C2? I mean it hasnt exactly superceeded the Saxo in anyway with regards to performance etc, What was wrong with the Saxo? Surely Citreon could have just modified the Saxo, bought out a new edition? following the steps of the cars like Seat Ibiza Cupra (the new one), the Clio 182 sport and other cars like this. the c2 will never be as popular as the Saxo, it doesnt look good enough and to have a VTR and VTS version that is slower? What are Citreon trying to achieve? A new edition saxo with say a 1.8 or 2.0 litre engine with 150-170 bhp would have been far more succesful IMO? What do you guys think? Rant Over!
Ripper3
26th November 2004, 21:18
1.8 n 2.0 in a Saxo? Dont think it would have fit properly, or it would have been VERY top heavy, but the suspension on the C2 could expolain one thing, how its not as fun 2 drive, as many people say that a torsion beam is more fun than regular springs, but who cares, seems like my bro likes it.
How fast is the Saxo VTS to 60? N how fast is the C2 VTS 2 60? Cos i cant quite remember now. I think the C2 VTS is about 8.5 or 9.0, but like i said, not sure.
The only factor that amounts 2 the C2 bein slower is the weight, w/extra equipment, n extra safety equipment too. W/out that it may b faster, cos its more aerodynamic than the Saxo aswell. Oh well, i think Citroen have done good, but it seems u guys dont.
Oh, n Smithy, remember a little car called the Reanault 5 GT Turbo from the 80's? Yea, thought so, i dont think people were very dissapointed with that were they? Exactly
