Check Clo out correcting other peoples grammar;)
Unfortunately insurance companies prices do fluctuate - and sometimes quite badly.
It's all down to how the financial market is at the time.
If they aer having a bad time and need to claw some capital back your insurance goes up.

I was reading in the paper that insurance companies put the prices up because of the amount of cars that got damaged in the floods!

That is one reason, but probably the biggest influence is the number of idiots that claim they have whiplash after a crash taking the 3rd party insurer through a claims court and raping them of several thousand pounds a pop

What time in the day did you get your quotes? Just some websites give a rough ball park figure over a certain time of the day. My first year with LV i was first quoted £845, then when I checked a couple of days later at night it went up to £1500ish, then back to the original quote during office hours.

Try more than, they're the cheapest I found, renewed my 1.1 2day for £699 with 1ync. I'm 18 on my own name.
I couldn't find even 1 other insurer who would quote under £1100, and they'll do a vtr for under £900 so I know what car i'm getting in bout 2 months. :)
