Ive had the car off the road for the last 2 weeks. Feeling more than a bit pissed off. Heres what happened, its a bit of a read.

A week before the MOT the car had a driveshaft replaced on the drivers side, the CV boot had gone and I thought i better replace the whole shaft. Cost 115 quid.

I took it to the MOT testing station, a different garage, nearly a week later. I knew one tyre was legal limit and the other were very close so i expected to replace them.

When the car came out of the MOT it had failed on quite a few things. Two tyres were illigal, two were close, as i expected. The headlights were out of allignment. It failed on emmisions, almost twice the legal limit. And the front right wheel bearing on the front drivers side was dangerous.

I didnt really understand the huge emmisions as the cars very well looked after and it isnt decatted. They put it on the diagnostics machine only to find nothing was wrong, so the cat was probably too cold.

The real issue has been the wheel bearing. I told them that the driveshaft had literally just been replaced on that side, so they said they would take a look at it. Whent hey did, they said they thought the shaft was the wrong type as it wasnt showing through the hub very much.

I took it back to the orignal garage, who looked at it and took the shaft out, and measured it against the spec. They said it was fine but the wheel bearing was gone, so i agreed to get it replaced. They quoted me 125 quid, i just wanted the car back on the road so i got it done even though i know it was a tad pricey now.

Picked the car up, there was a whirring noise from the right wheel when turning and a knocking noise under my feet. Got very pissed off and took it back, had a rant. They tightened up the drop link bolt or something, which sorted the noises. They also told me my other wheel bearing on the front right side is on its way out.

Whilst they were fitting that i got some new Toyo Proxies ordered from 'MY Tyres', which was reccomended on here. The order went through. The next day i checked my emails and they had sent me two emails, one saying the credit card details were incorrect, one saying the address was.

So i rang them and put the details through that way, which the operator confirmed were ok. The next day i got another email saying my address was incorrect.

So I rang them, the operator eventually got around to telling me that Proxies were out of stock, so i asked for a refund.

I got onto Kwik Fit, who also couldnt get any Toyos into stock, or any Pirellis, neither are being made in 185-55-r14 anymore apparently. So i had to go for Firestone Firehawks, which were fitted last time. I didnt particularly want these becuase theyre useless in the wet, but i was getting desparate so i booked it in. The tyres would be in Monday.

Monday came and I waited for them to call. Eventually i called them and asked what was going on, they said the tyres hadnt come and neither had any others theyd ordered in so it would be ready Tuesday which was great.

Went down Tuesday, got them fitted, turns out the alloys which are gunmetal arent sprayed under the weights so i either have to have slightly unbalanced rims or have silver marks on the edges of each rim. But i was happy it would now be road legal.

Took it to the MOT station, failed again on the wheelbearing. Wasnt happy. So i took it once more upto the first garage who could only book it in today. But the MOT re test period runs out today. Took it down there, and theyre now being very helpful. Theyve got onto the supplier of the driveshaft and it is the wrong part, but they refuse to send another one so the garage are trying to get them to do so. But they said they will cover the costs of the new MOT.

So this is where i am now. Car less, waiting for it to be fixed and fook knows how long thats gonna take, very poor, and generally quite pissed off.

So far its cost;

210 for tyres
125 for the bearing
115 for the driveshaft
35 for the MOT
35 for the diagnostics

and ive still got to pay

80 ish for the other bearing
350 for a clutch which is fooked due to the previous owner
Possibly a new gearbox due to the previous owner

Rant over, ta for reading

Aye, the roundabout 'drifting' when no ones around is a laugh but they aquaplane really badly in heavy rain, wheels have 'locked up' on a number of occasions

Yea I also noted that when I had my vtr wheels on, got momo's with uniroyal rainsport tyres on now which are much better

Get them informed quickly.

I tried to do this with mytyres, they refused to take them back and now I'm left with them.
