Had a bit of bother with my gearbox, got in touch with trading standards and they advised i write them a letter.
This is what i have so far
Re: Faulty Citroen Saxo VTS Gearbox
I purchased the above from you on 02/08/2007 at a cost of £141.00 via debit card.
As promised it arrived next day, no problems and I was happy with the service.
The gearbox was professional fitted at a local garage, after the garage and I drove the car it turned out the gearbox crunches.
I then made a phone call 10/09/2007 and was passed on to ***** who would arrange for a replacement gearbox to be sent across to me.
The gearbox did not arrive as promised. I do understand situations where you are busy or employees are off due to illness but many a time I was assured it had been sent. After 2 weeks of chasing the gearbox finally arrived on 24/09/2007.
I was really disappointed that I was being assured the gearbox had been sent when it hadn’t.
Before fitting the gearbox I had a garage check the code on the gearbox as it looked fairly old and slightly different to the box which was originally sent and it turns out to be from a different car and not suitable for my Citroen Saxo VTS. It turns out the gearbox is from a Citroen AX 1.1.
So at this point I am fairly unhappy as I now have a gearbox which needs replacing and a gearbox which is useless to me. I have tried to check the code on the original box you sent me to check if it is a VTS gearbox or if I have been sent a Citroen Saxo 1.1 or another Saxo model gearbox but the code has been grinded off?
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 requires all goods supplied to correspond to their description. As this is not the case, I am requesting either a full refund or a replacement Citroen Saxo VTS (1.6 16v) gearbox at your earliest convenience.
I was very impressed with your speedy service at the start and feel disappointed that I have to write this letter.
In the meantime, should you have any queries in relation to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me on the above e-mail address.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Anything you would add change?? tried to keep it to one page but its on 2.
Got my another VTS gearbox but shouldnt have to, getting it as a spare.........

Should do the job Steve.
Box went on my old Astra GSI and when the replacement one was fitted, there was no 5th gear!! :panic:
I did what you did and got a replacement but lucky for me, the 2nd one was fine. Sounds like you've been a bit unlucky.
You're well within your rights to ask for a refund - it's a good sign that they sent you a replacement - even though it was the wrong one!

Think you should send the boxes back at their expense as it was their mistake..
If they want the Gearboxes back then they will be willing to do so... if they dont then tough shite..
They're cock up. Their responsibility

i agree with your bold ideas keeping citroen saxo vts 1.6 16v in bold so they cant say we thouht you meant VTR.
Cant put citroen part number for gearbox as VTS gearbox's have different codes.
Didnt get order number but have the order form they sent and reciept.

With the problems you've had, send a letter by recorded delivery stating that you want xxxx gearbox (citroen part number would be useful) and pickup of the incorrect boxes within 14 days. Also state that you are prepared to go to the small claims court for your costs.

Regarding my letter which I sent to you a few weeks back (which is also attached), I have since received another gearbox which came 2 days ago. I was very happy and grateful you have managed to source and send on a gearbox to replace the faulty gearbox. After closer inspection it is once again not a Saxo VTS gearbox but a Saxo 1.0 gearbox (code 20CE21), which also has a damaged sensor.
The reason I purchased the gearbox of you was because it was a VTS gearbox hence the price I paid. I could source 1.1 and 1.0 box’s all day long for a cheap price.
Once again this is back in your hands to resolve. Preferably I would like the correct gearbox or secondly which may be the best option, is to give me a refund and I will need to source the gearbox my self which I do have a few locally for sale.
If needs be I can provide you with a list of gearbox codes.
I look forward to you response. I need this resolving asap as it is costing my time and money to have my car stored off the road, as well as inconvenience to my local garage who I arrange with to fit the gearbox. I don’t have time to sit around with out a car while I wait on a gearbox arriving.
King regards
cant see fair then that? needs tweaking...........
thats the e-mail i am going to send!

Write to them saying they have 14 days to arrange collection of the incorrect boxes and if you don't hear back you'll take them to the tip as you cannot store them
That way you have covered your arse
Only after that time can you sell them on / dispose of them
