Took my key fob to citroen today to have it programmed to my car (not original to the car) they are claiming once a key fob has been programmed to a car it will only work on that car and I will have to buy a blank key fob for £60.

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me. Thank you :y:

I'd say that they're Liars. I had problems with the infrared fob in my VTS so I installed an aftermarket alarm that used a radio fob, a lot handier.

Is there anyway of getting the transponder keys without going through Citroen ? as I cant find the little card with them on.

I found a guy in chesterfield town centre in a little locksmiths shop that supplied me with a new key, cut the key for me and programmed it to my car for a mere £20!

Its not a proper citroen key but its the same shape and it works!

What im trying to say with this is dont go to citroen.......they're thieving pikey bastards! Probably just trying to rip you off!

I saw someone today selling the fob on Ebay. Get a cheap one and then use the link Liamd put up. See if that works.

I tired the link and it isnt having it I think it has to be programmed using the transponder codes or something

That link will only work on a fob that is already programed to the car. For example if the fob loses its settings after the battery has died or the battery has been removed for a too longer time. To get a new or different fob to work with the car, the car will need connected to the diagnosis machine for the new fob to be registered.

Does that mean it will have to be done by citroen!
