Always good to be on the safe side. Im pretty sure that the front 2 can be up to 30% but no more, legally. Ive got mine about 30% on the front and almost 100% on the back, havent told my insurance company though, should really.

Not allowed any tints forward of the B pillar. VOSA and the PO-PO now carry light meters. They are within their rights to declare your vehicle unroadworthy if you cannot remove the tints at the roadside. Trailers are not cheap, but that's what you may end up going home with.

As to not declaring a material fact to your insurers, could you explain why I and the majority of other motorists should subsidise your non-disclosure?

Seem to think the legal is 25% on the front...
Really should tell the insurance though...

EDIT - Seem's I'm wrong...

Well that cant be true, because most cars windows have a slight tint on them, basically unoticeable ones, when manufactured. No glass is ever "pure".

The company that put mine in mentioned this to me, and said the best thing to do was put a light tint for the front side windows to stay legal... I haven't had any issues at all, so not sure on this one really.

Polan, I've just bought some polycarbonate windows, and will be removing my tinted ones shortly. Are you interested in buying them off me? Professionally done, and I've got the booklet and receipt for (IIRC - a lifetime warranty, I will check that!) they cost me around £250 or possibly more... Fronts are light tint, back quarters are medium, and tailgate is dark.

They fit a film on the inside mate. If it's done correctly, it very good. You don't live far from me either actually, so if you want to take or look anytime, you're more than welcome matey! Also, I'm planning to move to Basingstoke shortly... I've got a mate there who's just bought a flat, and I'm often popping round...

So yeah, 2 front sides, 2 rear quarters, and also the rear windscreen.

Oh yeah, check out my progress thead for loads of pictures!!! Search "Toad's mota"
