Could be your 02 sensor or lamda sensor needing a clean, possibly the way you drive, less high revving better mpg, also check your tyre pressure this can sometimes cause crap mpg, hope it helps.

If you've run out of fuel you may end up having to clean all the injectors and fuel lines, some of the debris in the bottom of the tank can be sucked through when the float is right at the bottom.

You would be suprised how tyre pressures affect MPG. I used to fill up with £25 of petrol, driving from Brighton to Eastbourne 4 days a week. My car used to rip through petrol until I checked the tyres which badly needed pumping up lol

If the ignition checks out, lambda sensor is OK and there are no major modifications to the engine, are all the spark plugs tight, a loose plug can let extra fuel into the cylinder. Is it possible that there is a leak in the fuel sytem?

Have the emissions checked and see if it is running rich. Why not get a competent mechanic to do a service.

I never get this problem... Half a tank is my empty... £25 tops it back to full :y: :y:
