View Full Version : Idle revs finally too much of a concern

A while ago i posted that when my car was at its idle revs, usually 500-1000 it seemed as if it was going to stall, as it seemed to labour (when not moving sound like it wasnt getting enough fuel if you know what i mean)

Now its much worse, i will be driving 30mph then start to slow down for lights and with my foot on the clutch just so it shows the idle revs (coasting) but the revs are 100 and i mean barely 100, I actually seen the battery light on my dashboard flash so.. :S
I then came 2 a stop in 2nd gear with the clutch in ofcourse and the car stalled because it wasnt ticking over fast enough.

This becomes a real problem when coming to junctions as i slow down and go into first and when i use the clutch and break its hard 2 press the accel aswell to keep the revs up. (THE CAR HAS ONLY STALLED ONCE - 1 hour ago)

This really worried me coz i would fkin hate for the car to stall when driving and THE REVS ARE ALWAYS LOW, ESPECIALLY RECENTLY

ANY IDEAS how i can fix this problem and what it might be?
Problem also occours when i also come to a stop and am waiting at lights etc.

sounds like a sensor is rogered, not sure what one though. have you had it on the diagnostic machine? this could reveal all if you havent

yes, sadly i have - this was about 2 months ago though when the i first became concerned about the idle revs, it was never under 300so it was fine and that was only when it was cold or very rarely whent the engine was warm.

I plan to get it on a diagnostic machine tomorrow but i'm broke as fuck so i kinda want to know specifically what the problem is.

I did get the "blackbox" changed to possibly fix this problem (was a 2ndhand blackbox btw) but it made no-avail however my car run just as smooth and if not fasterish lol

any other ideas? and how much is it going to set me back? roughly?

iirc it was about £35-40 for a diagnostic at citroen. did you replace coil pack or idle control stepper motor?

might be worth trying to clean the injectors?

throttle body

so it could be idle control valve, coil pack, one of many sensors

ok, one of me brothers friends had it on a diagnostics machine or w/e and one of me dads friends fit the part that i got.

My family knows a few peeps who usually dont mind lending a hand so... its just i tried them once and no avail so getting opinions elsewhere as its relatively simple to talk to peeps here

had the same problem on my old fiesta and that was the iar filter, and had the same problem with my sax which turned out to be the idle control valve
