Well, I was planning on getting a new car (a 1.3 fiesta) instead of my 1.2 corsa.

My mum rung up directline to get a quote on how much the insurance would be and they said that the insurance I have been paying for for the last 8 months has been invalid or something. I'm on my mums insurance so that mine would be cheaper, but they said today that it's wrong and isn't valid, meaning if I did have a crash then I wouldn't have any insurance even though I've been paying £64 a month. My mum was arguing for a bit and they eventually said that I can either keep paying that for the rest of the year and keep the same car, but next year it would go up even if I have a years no claim. They also said I'm not allowed to change cars which is annoying because my car atm isn't very good, pretty old 140k miles and crap.. They said that if I wanted to change my car then I would have to start again with my no claims and the insurance would rise to £2100.

Tbh I didn't really understand what my mum was trying to say, I don't think she even understood them because they have been selling me insurance which wouldn't have worked. My dads gonna have a bit of a moan tomorrow anyway.

I was just wondering what you thought and if I could get any money back legally or whatever, coz I think it's pretty wank tbh.

If you have your documents to say your paying for that insurance and that document shows its valid. For them to turn around and say its invaild is illegal and yes its wrong, and you could take the matter further as your under the impression it was legal.

i work in insurance mate and have a good knowlege regarding FSA regulations and legal matters, what they have done is plain and simple wrong, and for them to admit it if anything happened gives you a veryyyyy good position.

right not sure what you want as it rambles on pm me when you want more info,

but if you want your money back you could be entitled to it FULL REFUND! as you have paid for a product that they have no been producing / would have been able to cover (ie u needed to claim) like i said pm me with what info you need before you ring em, you really need to know hte lingo and what words to say before you go blowing off at them otherwise they wont give to rats what you say UNLESS you know legally where you stand and what you want

cheers

Have they said why it is invalid? Could be because your the main driver but insured as a named driver. The main driver I was told should always be the insurance policy holder.
