My bro showed my dad the saxo crash test on you tube and he's now telling me to get a focus because they're much safer!
I really love my saxo but i can understand what he's saying. Now i'm having second thoughts about selling it. So do i...

1) Sell the Saxo and buy a focus and be unhappy but safer and be in debt for the next 5 years

or

2) Pay the £1k debt i owe my dad and then he has no say in it.

P.S the sax will be almost worthless in a few k miles when it becomes 100K and that's a bit worrying!!

Keep it, don't be in 5k debt, and it's not worthless at 100k, not in my opinion anyway.

Shows your Dad's faith in your driving as well as his faith in the Saxo!

The only Focus I would go for in the old shape would be the ST170 or RS.

Preventention is better than protection!

Keep the saxo...
If you have regular services, there's no reason your car shouldn't last to 140+

Wrap yourself up in cotton wool / bubble wrap all your life?

Nah on a serious note. I've crashed my VTR at about 30mph into a solid fence, flew back into the road. Air bag didnt go off. I jumped out the car, not a bruise or scratch on me.

Personally i think saxo's are underated on safety. All right there shit in a bad crash etc. But from experience i'd say their safe enough. Personaly if your worried about it you can take extra safety measures. Roll cage, buckets + harnesses etc.

I crashed my first 1.1 into a tree, head on at 60mph... Came out fine, no scratchs or bruises...!

Its not worth getting into such big debt just for a focus.

IMO id pay your dad the 1k you owe him so he has no say in it then put a bit into saving up for a newer saxo

Then if your dads still insisting all he can do is go out and buy a safer car for you :)

win win situation there

Tell him you realise how inherently unsafe saxos are. Sell up. Ask him for a little extra cash. Then go out and buy something like this....

Worth a shout at least.

...just he dribbles and eats/drinks through a straw now.

dont drive in manner that might lead you crash. crash at 70mph in any car and you're dead.
