To buy the Civic sport over a Type-r?

I know speedwise yes..

But i want a civic, type-r insurance is £1670 and the sport is £700.

I will only really be using the car to go to work in, (town driving) so dont need a uber fast motor and the normal weekend trips to the gym and stuff like that.

I will only really have the car for a year or just over (as my new company will be providing a company car) and they dont seem to be losing much money on the market.

Just fancy a change. what you think?

Karl
11th October 2007, 09:49
Sports are uber gash imo.

Obviously nice cars, but it'll be extremely dull.

Itll be like driving a Furio with good build quality imo.

Id rather have a Golf GT TDi?

Tupps
11th October 2007, 09:49
Civic Sport's are smart motor's mate.....

Most people would say go for the type R, but when you take into consideration running costs, insurance and actually buying the car....is it really worth it?

I know i bought a vts over a vtr but the difference isn't THAT big between the two

Karl
11th October 2007, 09:50
failing that...
Four pots and Pro race 1.2's are a winner?

Just run your VTR into the ground, saves you $$$, especially if your not too bothered about what it is.

Decide which is more important to you, economy or fun.

Get a Prius or a Type-r :)

The sports are not too bad, and as said the running costs will be lower and the insurance is a lot less as well.

Like i said. New job means i have to drive through the centre of town so i wont even get out of second gear.

Only time i will 'open her up' is on the motorway to my dads house. Which you can only do the speed limit anyway.

Last year i paid 2.2k for my VTR insurance, now i paid £1000 for this years. I dont really want to pay 1.7k for another years insurance. Id rather pay under 1k from now on.

Running cost wouldnt be a massive issue as i will only be doing about 5mile a day driving anyway.

Adam shows a nicely modified type R and a bad pic of a bog standard sport.....

With a few mods the sport will be NICE!

So im not really losing out on much...

leeroybrown

TBH Leckie they look both the same

Sport as the Tupe r kit in it its just the wheels that look small tbh, which are easily changed

Also you can get the sports in the nice blue colour which stupid Honda should have the Type R's in.

I drove one, feels together and nice to drive, perfomance isnt that bad, very smooth

But as i like speed it would be type r for me

The sport on the other hand is a very good car!!!!!

Clouds_mate
11th October 2007, 09:56
Obviously i wouldnt keep it on standard wheels lol

Karl
11th October 2007, 09:56
Keep the R, run it into the ground.

Leeroy, you say performance isnt that bad.

I know tis completely irrelevant in Leckies eyes, but 120bhp from a 1.8 16v? 0-60 in 10.3s or whatever it is,

thats quite a deal slower than his Saxo.

I disagree.....I think you should get the CTR....as a week into buying the sport you will be thinking of what you could of have.

Search around for some better quotes get it down to the 1200 mark and snap one up......

11th October 2007, 10:00
The sports are really nice cars. My pal just bought one the same colour as mine. Obviously not as fast as the Type R but they are still pretty quick.

The Type R is pretty bad for petrol consumption so the Sport is probably the best compromise.

I'd get a sport, if your only going to be driving round town in 2nd gear then any cars gotta be better than doing it in a saxo?...

When I used to work at York (1hr30mins) I used to hate driving it in a saxo, would of loved a comfy car. 13 speed cameras all the way so wouldn't of been able to push it anyways.

I say go for it! :)

EDIT: If your saving hunderds of dollar as well, you've got nothing to loose. I'd rather have a more comfy car with cheaper costs than a un-comfy saxo that costs a bomb.

Service: £280
2 new tyres: £240
Tax: £110

And a few other things that I cant think of right now. You know me well enough to know im not saying this derogatory but can you really afford one? As in going out with mates etc and having a laugh as well? Cos he went off the radar when he had his. (£50 a week petrol getting to Rotherham and Back from Donny aswell, not including any other trips! :n:)

Plus you might have a hard time trying to shift it when you decide to sell up..

Must admit though I let O.H. drive mine last night (Thats Borat to some :P) and it made me like it again as he showed it no respect for the first time in ages! lol. They are quite fun to drive and all that bollocks but I DEFINATLY want to get rid of mine and move up on the car market ladder lol.
