View Full Version : My Next Car

Well soon the VTR will be going and have narrowed my car down to a choice of 2:

(1) Toyota MR-2 Turbo (T-Bar)

(2) Mitsubishi FTO Gpx

Cant really decide between the 2. Both insurance quotes are pretty much the same. The MR-2 will obviously be quicker but runnin costs will be higher and it has the lovely T-Bar for when summer rolls around again. The FTO hasnt got a turbo but has got a lovely V6 engine under the hood that stills does 0-60 in an impressive 6.5 seconds compared to the MR-2's 5.2. The FTO can also accomodate for 4 people, just about anyway and I personally think it is a prettier car to look at when it is standard.

What are you opinions guys? or suggestions etc.

I had a FTO GPX before my Astra.

It's a lovely car and I really enjoyed having it. The 0-60 figure you have quoted is probably what they would have done when they first came out, but as they are now an average age of 12 years old, the chances of it being that is slim IMO. The noise the Mivec Makes when you take it over 5K revs is brilliant, your smile grows and grows. As for running costs, it is a very thirsty car due to having the V6 purring away.

Not sure what the running cost of the Mk2 MR2 are as I've never owned one, but I have owned a Mk3 MR2, but they are a lot lighter etc, so the running costs would be entirely different.

Chris :)

Im at a mix up on which to say i would have aswell, both are nice car. If i had to choose, it would probably be the FTO, purely because of the styling you can do to it :y:

FTO only just wins

Both are nice cars imo but I'd personally choose the Mitsubishi FTO as it is still fast but also more practical and just to get the noise of a V6:y:

MR2 would be a miles better car than an FTO mate. Not as practical mind, but I would choose the MR2 over that anyday. Like a go-kart! Noise is amazing too with a raging high revving 2 litre right behind your head!

Have you ever drove an MR2?

If you have no experience with rear wheel drive cars the mr2 turbo will just bite you in the arse if any car will do it this is car that will, alot of power in them as standard and tbh the back just goes whatever the weather

Well I could have easily bought one , but I decided to buy the FTO (white one on page 1) instead.
