you dont need a router, if your ps3 is near your modem for your internet, just plug and ethernet cable from your ps3 to the modem, then go into the ps3s settings and it tells u what to do.

60gig ps3 with 2 games and 1 control was £350,but at pc world you have to spend £500 for the 6months interest free credit.
Being Half 7 at night and desperate for a ps3 i got my mate to get somethings and i got another game to make up the price. The total was £505,that worked out at 17.70 a month. If i dont pay it off by the six months the final total is £820 and im stuck with it for 4 years, you cant buy outta it after 6months.

so im gonna save as much as i can and try and get it payed as quick as possible which sould be pritty easy.although i aint got a number or anything for the people i have to pay back yet so im hoping something will come throught the post.

cheers everyone for your help :y:

No,i just connected it straight to my modem.seemed to pick it up.The light on the back was flashing and set up alright, just when it got to the test connectiong part it failed to pick up the ip address because it had timed out.

You will probably have to set up a static ip address if the ps3 is connected with a cable.

Mine is connected wireless and i have not encountered a problem.

It sounds to me like you have connected your PS3 to a modem that you got from your ISP,is that correct?
Most of them are USB modems and whilst you might be able to connect the PS3 to it without being able to configure the modem it is never going to work.
If it is a USB modem you need to install drivers on your PC for the two to talk,if you just connect your PS3 to the modem nothing is going to happen.
If you get a modem/router you connect it to your PC to enter the settings for you ISP so it is configured and then you just connect your PS3 to it.
Not having a static IP address isn't the problem as I dont have a static one and my PS3 works fine.
