been into car detailing for a good few years now but only got my first experience at using a rotary buff last week-end, it was a variable speed rotary buff (think i had it on speed 'D' when using it and to be honest i found it jumped around quite a bit and was generally hard to use, i was wondering if a porter cable is much the same or are they easier to use as i am considering buying one!

porter cable is easier to use and will do less damage to your paintwork and are much faster and safer. have a read of the two links below this should tell you all about a udm and a porter cable.

If you know the basics you will be able to use a PC and yes they are alot easier to use than a rotary.
To SaxoBoy07 yes they are alot safer but defo not faster, takes alot lobger to remove defects with a PC compared to a rotary esspecialy on hard paint such as BMW, Audi.

a porter cable is fairly full proof, with the rotary there is more chance of damaging paint, but the results can be alot better i find
