For driving my vehicle while prohibited under a vosa notice handed to me by the traffic police in june, they stopped me because my brake lights remained on perminently but when i got home i fiddled with the bulbs & it turned out i'd put one of the bulbs in the wrong place!

I was told to get a new MOT which i thought was abit extreme considering id solved the problem, went to them about it & said there's nothing they can do.

So i decided to just risk it & drive the car, ive since had it re MOT'd & requsted the prohibition removed unfortunately for me they noticed the milage difference which was about 3,000 more & have said they will be taking me to court which is fair enough.

Just wanted to know if anyone has been prosecuted for the same offence & what the penalty is?

The officer did say it will include a fine.

This is my first offence by the way.

thanks

Sounds a bit harsh for a first offence, you must have got a bastard of a copper lol.

What ever happened to, "Go home and get it sorted. If I see it happening again, I'll do you for it"

Unlucky, hope you dont get too fined bud.

Surely the police meant not to drive til it was sorted?
I've heard somewhere that the police can revoke an MoT anytime if they're not happy about something on the car.

Spectacular advice from the last few posters.

VOSA have given the OP a rectification notice. The OP chose to ignore the terms of that notice. (I do note that he had rectified the original fault, but that is not the point.)

The OP is now facing prosecution, why not compound it by perjury and possible use of a false instrument.

My advice? you've admitted you know you are in the wrong, explain all the circumstances and hope the beak got his end wet the night before.

30 miles maybe, 300 is a stretch, 3000 is going to be alot of explaining to do, pergury would be only option in my eyes, could spell a whole lot of trouble otherwise!!

Best to tell the truth and let them know you were in the wrong, at least then they'll see your being honest and may come down lightly on you. Try to get out of it by lying and they'll screw you as hard as they can in my opinion.

And if they ask for proof? Entrance forms, dates, organisers? The real key, when you are in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging.

You can try and lie your way out of it, but then you have to face the consequences if they find out you are liein. Or go in be honest and say yer it was stupid and i deserve what i get and hope they go easy on you.

one of my mates had a similar problem, his car was to low, to loud, side light out and so needed it corrected, got cought a few days later with the side light still out and no change. I think he ended up with 3 points and a fine, cant remember how much tho mate! Sorry, sounds pritty unlucky tho! Whatever you do, dont denie it, they find out and u'll come worst off!

Stand up. Tell the truth, take the consequences of your actions and learn from it. People will respect you more for that than trying to wriggle out of it..

Lies get you no-where, may aswell just tell the truth, you'll end up being in the same place anyway.

And, Vidal is my idol tbh.
