bit of a newb question lol but do most people put the amp in the boot when amping door speakers or under the seat or something? Also im after a sub so what sort of amp would I need to run the door speakers and a 10-12'' sub?

i may have a go of the hertz, when it comes to buying some components

amp location is up to you mate, you only need a 2 channel amp, you can get small ones so under the seat will be ok as long as its not moving about and has plenty of ventilation it will be ok :y:

id reccomend them hertz ones for sure, couldnt see the boston s50s on there anymore for some reason but they will be just as good if not better :y:

hertz are just as good mate if not better, ill be getting some for my next car for sure

for an amp, just give me a round figure mate, id suggest you just get the amp for components and wiring then add a mono amp and sub leter wheh you have saved up, best to buy better quality stuff :y:

I have been looking at around £100 for the sub and im going to build a fiberglass enclosure myself! I dont really know much about amps but i would rather just hav 1 good amp to run the components and sub (probobaly 12”) :)

hmmm all depends on what sub your thinking of, id say just get a jbl 4 channel amp and some good wiring, ill suggest one later on as im off to work mate :y:

also is this any good as a 4 channel amp? seems a bit cheap to me :S lol

rainbow and diamond are a good choice mate, also have a look at the hertz, RE subs

as for the amp

it would be 2 x 40 for components and 1 x 100 bridged for a sub, tbh look for one that will give you 2 x 60 - 100 and 1 x 250 bridged :y:

JBL and Alpine do some great amps to run a pair of components and a sub :y:

also that alpine amp i posted the link for earlier that says its 4 x 80w! would this run a set of components and a sub?? sorry for all the questions ha

Predator_R32
21st October 2007, 14:34
like i said it will run the components at 2 x 40 RMS

and a sub at about 1 x 100 RMS bridged, so i wouldnt get that alpine mate :)

cheers lads but i got my hertz through today! ill be fitting them tomoro! does anyone know if the green or pink wire is positive lol?

Predator_R32
24th October 2007, 11:58
they will both work but if there round the wrong way then then one will be pushing the same time as the other one is pulling so you will get distortion, to get the best out of them use an amp when you can afford it mate :y:

let us know how they sound :y:

ooodanooo
24th October 2007, 12:39
yeee i will be amping them im just hooking them up for the time being because my sister is having my old alpines. im goin to have to get the old head unit out when i get in an check the back i think because i dont have a clue which is pos or neg! :panic:

Predator_R32
24th October 2007, 12:46
tbh i cant even remeber that either mate, not sure if its wrote on the actual wire tbh, just wire them up if they distort then swap the wires round :y:

make sure you break them in, ie dont turn them up to a high volume straight away, id say after a good week of useage they should start to be working themselves in :y:

cool mate, have you heard any other components to compare them against? think i may order some.

ooodanooo
25th October 2007, 12:58
i cant really compare them as i havent really pushed them yet but from what ive heard they are very crisp and clear just need to fiddle with the high pitches due to the tweeters kindly making yr ears bleed! lol :y:
