matt black looks practicly the same as gloss black after its been laquered anyway so not realy much in it tbh

oh rite, didnt realise that. the pics on the companies site show a big difference between the two to me.

ahhh i didnt read the thread i jsut saw wheels, matt and gloss and thoguht u were refirbing them yourself as when doing them with spray paint then they would basicly look the same after laquering the matt, but if your getting a company to do them they will be powder coated & not sprayed and will look totally different and like u say u can get matt or gloss, i prefer the matt look

Definatly matt black for me. But also depends on the colour of your car and what else you have done to it.

Dont get matt, matt wheels just look cheaply sprayed and as though someone forgot the laquer. Also means they just look dirty all the time even if they arent. Definately go for gloss.

gloss without a doubt, when you have a nice clean shiny car, you dont want matt alloys imo, ruins the look of the car tbh

been looking at gloss black and matt black wheels think gloss black gives more shine to your wheels, go for gloss black:)

Which refurb place you taking it to mate. IMO black wheels on black cars is :ill:
Can you not go for a lighter shade, something like Renault charcoal?

pug cossack grey or the colour rushy metioned would both look great on black cars also:y:

Same place I had mine done at. Had a felling that was the one (or did I send
you the link to them in a PM?)
They wont mind you changing your mind once you get there, try and find some
pictures on black saxos on black rims. You may agree with me then. Theres no
contrast between the 2 colors. Looks a bit bland like.
End of the day if you like it go for it, but I think a nice light grey would be perfect.
When you get to the showroom check out the Renault Charcoal gray
I was on about. Its on the rack at the bottom in the showroom I think. Looks
really really nice.
Thats the color I originally was going for, but changed it to anthracite last minute.

Shall I be honest, they are good at wheel refurbing. But thats about it im afraid.
Ive had 3 seperate occasions where Ive found their work to be a load of shite!
1 - they sprayed my GTi badges anthracite and S2 rallye vents - paint wrong and flaked
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Refurb5.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Jan%202007/Badges1.jpg
no primer, not the right color and not any laq. Was a sh1t job and the paint
flaked off. Ended up getting redone at a proper body shop. Crap work!
Check the color difference to the wheel!
2 - GF ZS wheel done white - paint flaked off centre caps!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/May%202007/WhiteZS.jpg
and the boss lady had the cheek to argue and say that its not their fault
3 - When I had one of my wheels redone due to uber kerbing - dont wrong color!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Aug%202007/IMG_0082.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Aug%202007/IMG_0081.jpg
Again tried to blame me saying I told em the wrong color! I said bladdy
anthracite. Plus the car was right in front of them when they did it!
AND to add to insult tried to make me pay for twice due to it being redone again.
As long as its just a wheel refurb its okay mate lol.

Then you say refurb and respray, basically you mean they are going to correct
the wheel then do it another color?
If thats the case it will be fine mate.
Just dont ask them to do another bits on the car like centre caps, badges or
plastic bits.
They will do a half assed job unless they learned from the mistakes made on mine
which I doubt.
If its just the wheels they will come out great.

Heres how the S2 Rallye intakes looked after a proper bodyshop did them Maynard:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Mar%202007/DSC01049.jpg
Compare that to the crappy job laptab did with them:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/rushy_23/Car/Refurb5.jpg
Im not one to go on and slate a company that does do good work, but I wasnt
impressed too much. But again there wheel refurbs are spot on. So dont stress.

maynard

yeah thats whats happening to them! phew at least theyre good at the wheels then. well theyre standard vtr silver wheels at the moment with a bit of a kerbing from previous owner - not me!
anyways that and then resprayed in either of the blacks. not sure still :s
