My mum rang me today... My grans cat got ran over this afternoon!

The cat wasnt stupid and deffo wouldnt just sit in the road best cat ever tbh ( an i hate cats) , It annoys me how people can even do it and just drive off, even if it was an accident least have the decency to move it out of the road!!!

Plus the road which it happend on was a 30mph, surely if they see a cat in the road they would have stopped, beeped it or slowed down, grr

Anyway rant over

Sorry to hear about the cat Amiee. Its unfortunate but most people dont seem to care anymore. Its part of my job to remove dead animals from the public highways and i can safely say that 9 times out of ten they were run over just for the sake of it. I dont know how peoples attitudes can be changed though, lets face it there are people out there who run other people over and just drive off.

Tbh cats are natures goldiggers.

If it were a cuddly puppy, id be more sympathetic.

Puppys are like babies, but cool.

Cheers guys,

Just sooo gutted that it happens. I agree though if it was to endanger yourself or others by slowing down or swerving then yes. but in this instance its a road used rarely by the odd farmer or villager... hardly ever anyone walking along it and is a 30mp... not much damage to be caused to anyone tbh

30mph is still quite endangering i had a crash at 30 but it was raining real heavy so if it was me id try an get the cat to go under the middle of my car an just not move.....sorry to hear that they just left it as that would pmo to be honest they should own up and buy you sweeties!

It's not illegal to run a cat over and not stop.. so can see why.

I have loads of them down my street, sick of having to slam my breaks on because they run out or just sit there.. I gave up now and have came very close to hitting them.. its more dangerous on my part having to slam my breaks on.

Can understand why your hacked off though, not a cat lover myself but they could have let someone know.

yep it says in the highway code if an animal runs in front of your car you can brake just incase you cause an accident, you just have to hit it, simple as that, tbh i always brake for them

Its upto the owner to make sure the cat doesnt get ran over if it does its just part of life i suppose, i would never purposely run a cat over but if it ran out in front of me not sure i would go out of my way to move it unless it was my cat or someone who i knew personally, you pay road tax and insurance so you can drive on the road the cat payed fook all!

Oh by the way sorry about the cat
