ok so I've been charged £180 by Barclay bank in the past 3 months for going overdrawn at times, it's getting beyond a joke to be honest. I have heard documenteries and stories in the press about people getting this money back.

Has anyone had any experiences with reclaiming this money? I've got a meeting with the bank manager this afternoon and daddy is coming with me for backup but I wondered what your thoughts were?

Yeah i got £350 back from lloyds TSB. You need to fill in the forms that can be found on the BBC News website.
If they say know all you need to do is fill in an online small claims court form pay £30 (which you will get back with the fees) and basically Sue them for it, thats what i had to do.

I'm going to be doign the same with Natwest this week :y:

Good luck mate! PM me if there anything you want to know :y:

Reclaiming bank charges is currently going through legal action, the Office of Fair Trading has initiated a test case against many banks; Abbey National plc, Barclays Bank plc, Clydesdale Bank plc, HBOS plc (includes Halifax and Bank of Scotland) , HSBC Bank plc, Lloyds TSB Bank plc, Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (includes Natwest) and Nationwide Building Society.

The case is due to start on 14th January 2008, pending confirmation of the High Court.

Until that date the FSA has stated that banks have no burden to deal with complaints until that date, and the Ombudsman will not be reviewing cases too.

The case will be aimed to determine whether or not the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 are applicable to bank charges or not.

I got £3264 back from HSBC. that was charges over the last 6 years. I used a company called financial recoveries which came up on google. They do take a percentage but I wouold not have done it otherwise. Took about 6 months though.

You can do it yourself but if it goes to court as my case did you have to represent yourself whereas the company did that for me. There are template letters on moneysavingexpert.com (or co.uk) somewhere.

I would hurry up and do it too, the banks are clamping down on that....

I used to work for *UNAMED BANK* and when people I knew got charged, I got *A BANK EMPLOYEE* to refund the money to them ;)
