smooth boot, where to put numberplate?

i'm thinking about smoothing my boot but am strugling with where to fit the rear plate if i do. doesn't it have to be lit up @ night? whats the best way to do this? cheers.

Yer i mean the sticker one's like you see with some of the older cars on the bonnet.

but saying that i do know if there legal or not.

In the bumper like steve posted,you will also have to fit number plate lights in the bumper.
