Ok after my recent problems with my alarm ive decided to get a complete new alarm system.

Went to speak to a bloke today about one, and he's offering me the GT 136/142 fully fitted etc (Cat 1 insurance approved) for £225

Ive never heard of this and cant seem to find any info on the tinternet about it.

Another model he was offering at a much less price was a Laserline model but it's not Cat 1 insurance approved)

What do you think i should do?

not claiming to now anything about this but, i would ring the insurance company and double check that it is cat 1 approved, then get them to see if either alarm puts the insurance up or down and then go from there. would proberly go for the cat 1 approved mate

I dont know how many time i have posted this. You dont need a full cat 1 as any car made after 1996 in the uk came with a cat 2 fitted as standered so all you need is a battery back up alarm fitted (cat 2 - 1 upgrade) most places will try and sell you a cat 1 as there is more money in it for them. Ask for a Meta M99 or a cobra 3198 both of these are top quolity alarms and sould be supplyed and fitted for around £200. GT are not bad alarms but i have not fitted many But as long as you stay with a well known brand and it is fitted properly you should not have any problems. Check with your insurance if it will make any difference first.
