Just got some JBL components and i have a "theloudest.com" amp to power them up. (150w rms)

I was planning on having the crossovers in the small door pockets, and the amp under the passenger seat.

How do i get the speaker cables to the inputs on the crossover?? I suppose you have to route it through the rubber cable hose near the door hinge?

I thought about using the original speaker cables, but i couldnt trace them as they changed colour...:n:

PLEASE HELP!!

just wire it to the existing speaker wire, but take it from the back of the HU!
they where all labeled on the iso cable, i just cut them and rejoined the new wire to them!

take your seats out, will make it a lot easier.... then you can just put the wires under the carpet... better to just use new wires

Doing that will make them sound shit !!!

amp them up and they sound great.

and yer take out both front seats and then feed the wires under the carpet wire to amp then stick seats back in.

i didnt explain very well, the standard wire that goes to the door, connects to the back of the HU, so cut the wire at the HU and connect the new wire from the amp to the existing old wire that would normally be going in to the HU! so the amp is connected to the old wire now going to the door!

in the door join new wire from where it connects to the old speaker that you have taken out and run this to the crossover IN put
then run more new wire to the tweeter and woofer!

its they way i connected mine and your more than welcome to come and have a listen and it does not sound shit!

That seems like the best way.. Just use existing speaker cables for the input to the crossovers.

But what colour are the original wires? They arent labelled up:panic:
I have a pink and grey goin into speaker, but only green coming from HU!

at the existing speaker

pink is +
green is -

this should now be going in to the crossover
should have the same colour on each side!

on my iso cable that came out the back of the HU, it had all the speaker wire labeld up, so i pluged it in and then could see, what the car speaker cable was!

look in your manual for the HU that you have got and it should tell you the colours of the wiring coming out of the HU, then when you clip it together from the plug that is in the car, you should be able to work out what colour wire is left and right ect!

or if you have a volt voltmeter, you would be able to just cut the wires then test them, to find out what is what!

just done a search and you should have on a connection block:
purple
green
white
grey

are all positive

and

purple and balck line
green and black line
grey and black line
white and black line

are all negative
shount be too hard to work out the front and rears!

Ok that sounds better but the way you said it before is just connect straight to the head unit and not to use the amp but now you have explained better yer sounds good to me.

Join the crossover to existing speaker wires and then cut at head unit and connect them wires to the amp ! Is that what you mean ? Then connect woofer and tweeter to crossover.

Yer, thats the one DJ. I just cant tell which wire is which on the back of the HU:panic:

May have to run new ones through the door. Any idea how the plastic cable sleeve comes off? The one that covers the wires where the door hinges...

its easier just to drill a hole and put the new wire through

Drill a hole where?
I need to get a wire from inside the car to the door, so how would "drilling a hole" help?
I need to run the wires through the cable casing near the hinges...

if you want new wires then you will need to drill a hole, by taking the door off!
you cant run new wire in the existing thing between the door and the car, as its a type of plug, if you open the door and unscrew it, you will see what i mean!

If you angle the drill right you won't have to take the door off.
You need to drill a hole in the a piller, and then one in the door.
Then put grommets in so it doesn't cut the wire....
Then you feed the wire through to the door and use sone cable tie to tie it to the cable casing.
