well i went to see pigion detectives last night since the ticket was free from my mate, and i drove down...

280 mile round trip... so away we went setting off at 20 past 6, to get ther for 8, which was abit ambitious but we did it.

well after, we walked out of manchester arena, and got in a taxi... "train station please".... well who is to know there is 2 train stations?!?!

so we looked around for about half a hour before realising we were in the wrong place, so we walked across manchester to victoria station...

on the way back, stoped for petrol... IN WHAT GARAGE DO YOU PAY FOR PETROL BEFORE PUTTING IT IN!?!

then we stopped at mcdonalds, and i was nearly sick because half of it was still frozen.

then there was 2 hours of traffic on the A62, absolute nightmare.

didnt get home untill 3AM, set off from manchester at 11

Im never going to manchester again in my life!

it's an american invention, also in manchester they have those rising bollards on the petrol stations, and the cashier waits till the car is over them before releasing them hee hee, oh and theres 3 train stations in the city centre area,

pretty easy citty to get round tbh, follow the signs, or if you get lost go to oxford street and go from there

280 mile round trip... so away we went setting off at 20 past 6, to get ther for 8, which was abit ambitious but we did it.

So you were driving, at an average of 168 MPH.. ?

EDIT: That's a round trip.. so that's 84mph.. all the way... not to mention traffic lights.. round abouts.. junctions.. traffic..

Nono, think about it.. if you're doing 100 miles an hour.l. for an hour.. that's 100 miles.. IF you're doing 100 miles an hour.. for 40 minutes.. (2/3) that's 66.6.. 100 + 66.6 is 166.6

long time since i went to school.

Formula is

....................... distance
average speed = ---------
....................... time

Whats the answer?

long time since i went to school.

....................... distance

....................... time

That's correct...

That's a round trip.. so that's 84mph.. all the way... not to mention traffic lights.. round abouts.. junctions.. traffic..

X = 140 / 1.666*

140 being the distance traveled.. (he did say 280 was a round trip.. so just going 'there' is half the distance.. 140) 1.666* is the time as a decimal.. 40/60.. = 2/3 = .666*

X = 84.

Let's swap things around..

84 = 140 / X

Let's swap the sides of the 140.. and put it to the other side..

140 / 84 = X

X = 1.666*

I shit you not.

But.. to answer your question..

....................... distance
average speed = ---------
....................... time

Speed is 100 mph.. Time is 0.666*....

That works out as..

100 = X / 0.6..

= 66.6666 miles

Plus the 100 that i said.. that's 166.6..

EDIT: Found a convertor too http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/bike/speed_distance_time_calc.html
