anybody know how big of a job it is to skim the head on a vtr?? and an idea how much it would cost?

60-70 ish i think not too sure could be completley wrong lol... i think whoever you take it to will have to send it away somewhere unless they have the rite equiptment...

nice one m8 ive bin told that the head is warped by a thou by the machanic that ground in two valves for me. said that it will eventually give me trouble furthur down the line. im not sure how far tho

hya mate, the biggest part is taken apart and rebuiolding, will probs cost around 30-50 plus vat

Look in your local yellow pages for engineering workshop/engine repairers - should be able to skim it!
An easy way to check is to place a good ruler end on, onto the head!

if its been skimmed before, theres two diff types gaskets apparently, sizes i.e thickness

Just take it to a engineering firm they will do it a piece of piss.
As someone said the hard bit is building the head up again

thanks. not sure if im going skim the head now or if its worth my while just stickin in another engine. the engine itself has nearly 100k on it and i dont want ongoing problems with it

head gasket are the most likely problems on these cars, head gasket aint much and aint hard to do, i do it but up to u
