Hi all. I had a small bump today going into work. Both cars have very small marks. My car has come worse off but it is only bodywork that is effected.
My questions to you are there was no witnesess at all she was in the car on her own and I was in the car on my own also. No other cars stopped all drove past. What would the outcome be if either of us changed our stories? Can an outcome ever be reached?
And how much would a claim push up my insurance by? I'am 22 have 3 years NCB at the mo (not for long if things don't go my way!) As said earlier it was only a small bump nothing writen off etc. Any ideas? I'am insured by Elephant if it makes any differance.
Thanks
Bake

Not really sure how they would sort it out to be honest, unless it was obvious who's fault it was i would say its classed as knock for knock.

I have phoned her and offered to pay for the damage (saving me and her a lot of hasstle) But she is determined to take it through the insurance! The damage to her car is to her back bumper probably about the size of a tennis ball, not dented in at all, just paintwork.
I'am going down to her house later to try and reason with her, my excess is £400 its never going to cost that even for a new bumper, only advantage of goin through the insurance I can see is I will get my car fixed too. But on the down side depending what my premiums jump up too I might have to sell it!
My My what a mess

I'am 23 have a saxo VTR mrk2 paying 550 a year fully comp at mo. I read my insurance policy thing a min ago and it said that I will keep 1 years NCB if I claim with three years so not all bad.
The other thing I read was that if it is not reported to them within 48 hours it may effect the claim? She has not told me that she has reported it yet and I hope to make her see sence later on tonight. If she reports it to her insurance and I do nothing what happens? Will my insurance company just call me and ask me what happened?
She is saying it will be easier for her to go through insurance so she can get a hire car etc when it is gettin fixed. Shes really got to me big time I have never been in this situation before so don't even know the procedure. I just can't understand why she will not let me pay for it! I even offered to give her money now as a deposit.

well let her go through the insurance claim on her own insurance she gets the hire car and you just pay her excess. try that.

She wuld have to be daft for to do that!! she will loose no claims herself!! she is going through the insurance because she is after a claim as said above thats the reason for it!!

Hey guys it has worked out ok. I phoned my insurance to report it and becasue there is no damage to my car I don't have to pay any excess. I have said that I don't believe to be at fault because she was stopped on a roundabout.
Worst comes to the worst and she gets paid from my insurance and I loose two years no cliams. If it is deemed that it is 50/50 happy days. They also just told me to keep paying my usual payments unless told otherwise by them.
Weight of my shoulders! And still have some cash.
Very helpful over at Elephant.
