1st Gear Issues!!!

Hi, I'm wondering whats wrong with my 1st gear, wen you change to first gear while moving even the slightest its grinds really badly, the only time you can use 1st gear is went completely stopped, can someone help me which this please???

new gearbox??? could i get my gearbox reconditioned? or how much is a new one gonna set me back?
