buy him a 53plate VTR ;)
Subtle! Has a dirty exhaust though - you'll never sell it in that condition;)
Does he actually want a strut brace? If you haven't asked him what he wants then you should. I would far appreciate something that I wanted even if there was no surprise, than something I didn't particularly want!

the way to my heart is through performance mods.
If you are reading this Natalie.. please purchase me a manifold for the S2000 and some cams for Christmas
On topic though (I got carried away for a moment) I would perhaps consider a decent induction kit as they are easier to fit than manifolds and are most definately a DIY job for all

ecotek - don't!
yeah leave these alone bag of shite lol!! i would get him an upper strut brace as you have problems with speed bumps with the lower ones if the car has been lowered a bit???
willsy
6th November 2007, 23:03
OMP strut braces are arguably the best available, the upper one costs more, but the bottom one has the bigger impact on the handling aspect.
You can buy both strut braces for £70 inc postage from ebay which unless Kam can supply them for a better price thats probably your best bet.
Alot of peopel say that you'll have problems with a lower one if your cars lowered at such a height (of drop as the case may be) but in reality you wont have any problems if you take it easy over speed bumps.
The OMP one does dip a bit in the middle, wheras some other makes are a straight bar across (i dont know if you've looked into these and seen pics yet to know what i mean)
The place where you may find most trouble is down an uneven road with potholes where your wheels go down into potholes and the brace beaches itself on the upper ground (happened a few times to me on sunday at the paintballing place)
.................................................. ...........................
If your budget is around £200 then the strut braces are definately worth it. Then do you know what type of induction kit he has? is it just like a cone with a spongy filter that sits at the back of the engine bay or is it what we call an enclosed induction kit where the casing comes forward to the front of the engine bay? If its a cone one then you'd be in his good books getting a proper enclosed one, Kamracing is a good place to look again for those.
.................................................. .............................
A showcage i wouldnt bother with to be honest, in an accident it really does nothing for safety and could even be deemed to be more dangerous than anything as its not deemed to be a properly secured object.
Its dead money, if he wants a cage its definately worth saving for a prope fixed one.
x-michelle-leila-x
7th November 2007, 17:33
thanks that helped alot :)
i've decided to get him the upper strut brace just because he's got enough problems with his car being low as it is..
about the induction kit.. it does have a spongy bit but it also comes to the front of the engine bay so i don't know? i'll leave anything else untill christmas now lol.

the first thing with suspension is to get a kit first. then add bits. upper will pretty much do jack shit anyway as the front suspension would have to be rock to make the flex for it to work. say going into a corner and you turn and the car leans your shocks and springs will take the flex so unless rock solid you strut wont get affected. the lower will work as its at the bottom of the car
