after trying the search facility first with no luck i decided to post the question:
today i've been using my saxo (vtr mk.1) all day, with no problems bar almost running out of fuel. i came home about 2 hours ago with the pas working fine and dandy, i have just popped to the shop now (2 hours after using the car before) and it's totally gone, it's harder to steer than a saxo with no pas anyone know why? and does anyone know what might be up with it???
cheers in advance

oh dear mines gone tonight too! preetty much exactly as you described mine went same working... then gone, and its extremely stiff to steer! fluid levels all full... and my heaters work not sure why that would make a difference?
can anyone help me out aswell?
(sorry for thread Hi-Jack thought was better than starting new thread )

If the heaters didnt work aswell then it would mean an ignition switch problem which can be easily and freely fixed by bridging a connection..
I had to do this on the Westy..
I would say the pump has gone if the fluid level is fine and there are no leaks anywhere..

Giving the power steering pump a few hits with a hammer can sometimes unstick the pump for quite a bit longer. But a new pump is ideal. :y:

cheers for all the advice, had it checked today, one of the 3 parts of the ignition barrel has gone, buying a new one from my mates non-runner for £30 and gettin it fitted for £30, why couldn't this happen during summer, it's like the car decided to kill the heating at the coldest time!
