Fuel Guage Problems

Basically my fuel pump died last week so i got a replacement and fitted it, now though the the guage is inaccurate, it runs out of petrol with a reading of a quarter tank,

Does the float on the pump have to be facing a certain way, I got it as close as I could to the old position but to no avail :n:

Hi,

check the sender unit in the tank ( Float ) for a poor connection, also make sure you have the wires the correct way round or the gauge will read wrong as it gets a incorrect reading.
