Hi there,

Lately I have had a claim made against me for a very minor ding. They have reported it to there insurance and I have filled out a claim form with mine. I don't need anything fixed on my car so the claim is purley for her car. I did try and sort it out personally but she is not for it al all!

The main question I have is I have 3 points for speeding and I have totally forgot to tell the insurance when this happened. To be honest I can't sleep, eat I am in a terrible state. I don't know what to do. The insurance have been great taking all the info and being friendly telling me not to worrie etc and let them deal with it, but the points I worrie about. They don't know about them and I don't know if they will check or should I tell them?

I don't want to tell them then they say we can't help with the claim if they are not going to look at all? Can someone help me out? do they check?

You forgot? For how long? If you have only just received the NIP then you could be forgiven, forgetting for several months may actually exhaust Vidal's limited supply of sympathy.

The insurance company will pay up for the other party, but they will bum you dry for your "failure to disclose a material fact". It will affect any renewal premium - they may even refuse to insure you.

Don't lose sleep over it, it won't change the outcome.

My question tho is will they look for the points? If I dont tell them will they find out? My renewal is due this month too!

If you knowingly fail to declare the points and they do find out - which is a very likely possibility, then you should be prepared for the worst. If they don't find out, and you renew, will you tell your next insurers?

It seems to me that I am subsidising your forgetfulness via my premiums. Care to explain why I should carry on doing this?

yes they will find out, as that information is held on a national database that theyll use when u crash/claim. so if u dont declare them, they wont pay out!

and if they refuse to pay out, ull never get a decent insurance quote till ur 25 as its classed as fraud, which u have to declare again on new policies..
