Right I phoned up Quinn to check if adding an enclosed raceland induction kit would bump up the premium.

The chap who was dealing me (very polite dah deh dah) asked if it added BHP and obviously I said yes. He puts me on hold for around 3 mins and comes back.

He explains he is going to send me a form, which I have to fill out and get an engineer to state what it does to the car (WTF!) and they the "Quinn Direct team" will assess it.

I explained I would most likely fit it myself and he asked if most "other people" fit theres themselves.... obv some do and some dont.

Really confused, Id just thought hed say " yes that another 50 quid" or something but now Im getting a form?

Hmm anyone else experienced this and if so could you tell me the outcomes!

ye, they wont tell u if the price increases until u have the engineers report done, u can download it from their site.

its a form that u need to get signed by a garage to say that uve fitted ur IK safely lol..

I see.

So that pretty silly, I cant find out what I will have to pay until Ive got the mod? what if it costs a bomb?

Is it possible to fit it myself and then get an engineer to run an eye over and then sign the form?

Possible link to the form mate?

ye u fit it urself, its easy enuff then get someone to say that its fitted properlly and send the form back to quinn, u shud have said it doesnt improve bhp but oh well...

clicky! (http://www.quinn-direct.co.uk/documents/england-scotland-wales-ni-engineers-report-form.pdf)

yea, its the same with lowering etc.. too.
so if u intend on doing any other mods. get them done now so u only have to get 1 form done!

...should have just said it makes a nice sound, nobody can prove otherwise unless they RR it, hugely unlikely. Didn't even bother tell my company I fitted a Raceland, (will mention it when i do my zorst and cams though!), because I'm paying out the arse for insurance anyway. If anything happens: "Bur sir, it was like that when I brought it!" :P

I've heard quinn can be a bit difficult when trying to declare performance mods. Sounds like a lot of hassle when in reality an induction kit makes only a tiny difference in relation to the trouble you go through to declare it all and then the sky high prenium.

You can declare mods with quinn direct online now.
Its really easy, go to their site and there is something called my quinn direct.
You can the sign up to that and amend your quote. Say you are changing your vehicle and keep the details the same and near the bottom of that page there is 4 drop downs where you can add modifications.
I added induction kit, alloys, exhaust and leathers add it cost me nothing.
I got a new insurance certificate through shortly after with the modifications on and it cost nothing.

Here is where you sign up for my quinn:

Hope that has helped.

there is an option.... "Wheels alterations" or something.... Would have to include that.

I thought you might like that.

Also the drop downs are fairly vague, so you can get away with a few under one of the drop downs, eg one of them is "interior changes" so that could be ice, leathers etc under the one alteration.

It is very good and easy to do. Only thing is that there is only 4 drop downs.
