hi just a quick question is 195/45/16 the same as having 185/55/15 on?? apart from being a bit thinner??

Not quite sure what your asking there mate...
195 is the width of the tyre i.e. the main bit with the tread on
45 is the aspect ratio. The height of the tyre wall.
16 is the size of the wheel in inches

So you are comparing 2 totally different sized tyres

sorry i should of explained a bit better... rite ive got some 195/45/16s on a 106 gti and it scrapes quite a bit so just gettin some gti alloys which the tyres on them are 185/55/14 so will these catch as its down 50mm

i under stand hat you mean, only way is when u get wheels stand them next to each other and c

according to this, they are -22.8mm smaller in diameter compared to the 16`s so you should have no problems mate.

Try 195 40 16s

185 55 14 is the stock gti, vtr & mk1 vts size & rolling radius!
