Just got the bill from the garage for a replacement of the bottom radiator hose (£20), new fanbelt (£20?) and antifreeze (£7.50) plus VATand labour which came to about £70 in the end. Is that right? because when i spoke to the guy at the garage he told me about £35 so £70 is DOUBLE what he said! pissed off now.

If i was quoted £35 for exactly the job theey accied out no extra parts etc then all they would get off meis £35. they can't just put the price up:n:

Thing is prior to it going in this time the headgasket was replaced and everything to do with that was sorted out and the car worked fine up until this damaged rad pipe. Cost me the top end of £400 to fix that with them and they obviously flushed out the system and topped it back up with anti freeze etc.

They dont need to re fill it with anti freeze again if theres already some in it surely? unless they needed to flush it again to check the pipes?

Tell him to stick to that as you've found it for £50 if not and are going elsewhere

Fan belt and radiator hosing take 20 mins tops to fit and antifreeze isnt rocket science,

Open --> unscrew --> fill :y:

Parts are cheap so go elsewhere if your unhappy or dont want to do it yourself
