Pi**ed off at my supposed work place!

I was due to work night shift 10:30-6:30 in sunderland for royalmail employed by reed.

The first few days were sched for training and i was told to be there for 10:30 and the brieifng says 10:15 to be punctual etc, turned up at 10:05 and then got the bad news like the other 50 of US!

They were overbooked or had no vanancies LEFT! even though we had took a test to see if we were eligable and then had our backgrounds checked and even given confirmation we had the vacancy, i was left standing with my ID badge and time-table pretty much SCr&ewed.

They said were sorry but first come first served yet some guys told me that they arrived at 9:30 and they said come back LATER!, they then proceded to say it was only fair as some people arrived at 8:15! 8:15 OMG WHAT!

I could understand if i was late but it only said be there for 10:15 and they didnt even test us on our skill and the fact that my friend who does day shift was the only one out of 70 or so people who actually passed the training on the 2nd day! - they have even let so many go so :S

Complete UTTER BS! - Is there anything i can do? i dont have any copy or anything of what i agreed to when i signed up for the job so how do i go about this?
I do have a letter and ID badge that says i passed the test successfuly and am due to start work on the 28th...?

As a contractor you have no leg to stand on, they have to give you no notice, you have to give them no notice. Sorry to hear it tho, I hate companies that mess people around

rung them, as you guys said i got nothing to stand on because its temporary work and not contracted, also it says in the decleration or whatever i signed at the start that enables them to do that along the lines of it subject to change or w/e :(

Pointless persuining it as u guys said before i rang so i doubt they are lieing, she offered me priority for the shift on the weekend £8 and £5 / hour and even a closer job in NEWCASTLE ;) but i havent rung them yet
