Well i want to get a new car next year as im fed up of the 1.1 i have now, not because its a 1.1 but it just rattles and knocks like anything. But i think of another car that i would like and then i think yer i really want that, then i see a nice Saxo and i think nah ill keep mine and slag it or something. But i dont think its worth it (Too much rust and hassle).

So i have come to the conclusion its either a Corsa C 1.4 16v Twinport SXI (SXI+) as its cheap insurance, nice to drive, good build quality.
Or get a Vtr and just keep it nice and clean untill i can either afford incurance on a Vts or something bigger and better.
Or keep the 1.1 and just shut up lol
Your thoughts please, if you could give reasons then please do lol.

Keep the 1.1 and get a big stereo

I think you should go for a nice Mk2 VTR matey. I really do hate the 1.4 corsa c sxi. Plus I can out drag my friends one to 70 on a private road before it starts to pull away :)

Thought about that "MrOrange" but if i turned it up to much the car would fall apart due to rust lol :y:

The Corsa is same insurance group as my 1.1 so would be cheap to insure where as the VTR is double the insurance groups. This is what im thinking about aswell.

Fair point chewy. Get a Grande punto. Nice looking motors, well built (serious), and far less chavvy than the corsa and saxo

it's double but it's still only group 7 :P and definitely worth it. Looks better and a hell of alot quicker. common you know you want to :afro:

Maybe just stick with 1.1 until you get another years no claims then get a VTR :)

29th November 2007, 23:01
I like your thinking Alex dont know if i could live with it another year though. I know i want a VTR but i really like the Corsa aswell, really stuck between them! Would need a loan though, VTR is cheaper to buy though. Just dont know what to dooo!
"MrOrange" Where did you get 'Chewy' from lol.

Go for the VTR. It's the best all rounder. It's quick, not too expensive fuel wise, insurance is sensible and most importantly saxo's rock! :y:

out of the 3 options, i would defo go for VTR. The corsa 1.4 SXI is pretty poor.If you do want a corsa, id go for thre SRI, they are pretty nippy. but you'l be waisting your money with the SXI 1.4 . My brother inlaw has one and they are pretty sluggish. My brother has the SRI 1.4 and its soo much quicker and a nicer drive, and i use to have the VTR and that beat's both of them!

vtr boyo, i am opting for either a civic ek9 or VTS* sometime in the new year.

mattchewone
29th November 2007, 23:10
The SXI and SRI i thought were exactly the same engine wise. Just exterior mods. Well the 1.4 kicks out 80/90bhp which i think is enough at the minute as mine standard is suposed to be 60 but due to age is probably more like 6. Ohhh i dont know, VTR's are nice but Saxo's have to many problems lol. I supose thats the fun though.

Maybe a westcoast/furio then, Bigger engine than you have now, VT kit and cheaper insurance :)

Jagztorious

what year SXI are we talking about?

Yeah you could get a furio. You can get nice ones for 2K now and you would have a nice VT kit already there:y:

If your going to get an SXI, make sure it's in the 2003 - 2007 ... your right, it is the same engine if we are talking about 2003 + models

mattchewone
29th November 2007, 23:18
Was looking at 2006 SXI and possibly the SXI+ as its half leather and few extra's. They start at around £7-£8k though :(
Furio could be another option but may aswell just go for the VTR as ill regret it lol

Jagztorious

go for VTR mate. Cheaper and alot more fun.

29th November 2007, 23:44
I'd say give the VTR a miss personally, but that's what I would do.

The Corsas are nice cars to drive, expensive yeah but are nice. Something to watch on the SXI+ is that the half leather seats will start to crack within 30,000 miles and eventually stitching on the steering wheel comes apart.

29th November 2007, 23:49
Thanks luke, appreciate the comments guys. Still undecided though lol. Corsa is expensive but are good cars. The VTR is fun and nice to look at although so is the corsa. Urggghhhhh. Will just wait and see on money lol. Cheers

Get a tidy VTR mate, very nice motors, sportier than the Corsa and although less toys, its more *fun* and still affordable to run at the same time, thats what its all about :P

Agree with the masses. Is the better all round mate if not abused.
Cheap as chips really to fix it if anything goes wrong too.

to be honist for me to get a corsa it would have to be the 1.8 SRI. or in the newer shape it would have to be the VXR which look 10x better than the other newer shape corsa's

Its just the insurance that i think about now. Did a quick quote last night in confused.com at the missus, and with her as owner with her pass plus and me as named with 1claim it = £1500 ish. I just dont want to be paying that sort of money for car that only costs £2-£3k. Any ideas. Will try quinn or someone else later on.

Thanks again for the help with persuading me back to a Saxo lol.

mattchewone
30th November 2007, 14:49
Just did a quote for me on my own on the VTR and i think £3k is a little steep tbh! Hmmm if i have the missus's as main driver im never going to get any no claims.

Well you know what one I said ;)

Wait till you see Sammo's one then you'll melt for a black on immediately ;)

How old are you Matt and how long you been driving? I think directline let named drivers earn their own NCB:y:

I prefer Sammos, cos that one is stunning!

The one you have linked to is stunning too but has they silly window things round the top of the windows!

I got a tad bored looking through who had posted and what corsa they drove, the thing is every single corsa near enough was black :ponder: :p

black corsa's are the nicest but were too many with the same mods.

Whats rattling on the 1.1 mate? have you tightened everything you can possibly tighten? I'd stick with the 1.1 get another years ncb and then maybe think of the VTR. Insurance prob too steep just like me, to have the 1.1 when I was 17 in my own name, with pass plus it would of cost £2,500-ouch tbh!
