Well I suppose help is the wrong word, guidence or something or just a slap will do!
He has been looking at getting a new bike recently, he currently has a Suzuki Bandit and is thinking of getting a spanking new Triumph :y: He tells me this morning that he has decided against the Triumph and is getting a Porch instead (not Porsche), yes a porch with a downstairs toilet.
Hmmm, wrong decision I think! Triumph or Porch which would you choose?

It depends on how serious he is about biking. Is it going to be a short-lived fad, (like my new year gym memberships!) or is he going to be out every weekend for years to come?
If it's the former, then spend £5k on home improvements and put some value into the house, it certainly beats all these bikes you can buy - "less than 12 months old, only 2000 miles, never ridden in the wet" - because that is just a stupid waste of money.
Anyway, your dad may need the extra room etc to install Inga, the Au Pair.

Porch would increase the value of your house and in the long run would make him a profit.
The Triumph would decrease in value the moment he signed the dotted line and would continue to decrease.
So in answer to your question.... I'd buy a PORCH

I have a feeling that all the people that are saying to get the bike don't own their own house!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Believe me, when you own your own house and there is an opportunity to make an improvment to it that would also gain you a long term profit, you'd understand why he is choosing to get the porch done. Houses are a great investment... bikes are just a bit of fun.

reminds me of a questionaire I once read out of 100 bikers asked this question "what would you rather have AM DB9 or a Ducati 998?" 99 said the Ducati the other person said they would have the DB9 so they could sell it buy the ducati and then keep the rest of the money.
It's just sensible thinking in the long run

i love that about bikes, you can spend 3k on an unmodified bike and it will murder a 100k ferrari :y:
chrichvtr
30th November 2007, 11:45
yeah but those in the ferrari stand less chance of murdering themselves

But at least the bikers will die happy!
Everyone tells me I will kill myself when I get another bike, and my response is always the same "I'll die happy"
