Picked the lad up from Darlington Train station on friday after work, Took him to my house so he could give the car the once over....

Paid with a bankers draft which i stuck in the bank on saturday and cleared today!

On the look out for a new motor now, in no major hurry as ive got a golf to use for the time being to get to work and back

Was considering spending around 5k on a Cupra but im still undecided on what i want....

Ideally i only want to spend around 4k so i can have a decent xmas, stick money aside to pay next years insurance off, booka holiday and still have change

Suggestions on what car to get?

- I dont want anything SLOW
- Want something new'ish + low miles
- Don't want terrible MPG
- Reasonable Insurance (4 yr NCB and 22 yr old when renewal is due)

So far ive thought of

MG TF 135 (i know im gay, hairdresser, i love boys who cares gtf)
Astra Coupe
Golf
C2
172
Megane Cab

Help!

Ever thaught of an Audi TT or that to expensive?

Could probably get a 3-4k Loan and do a Danny, look at cars like a VX220, TT etc

Rather just pay cash for a car then stick money away each month - then when i have 4-5k in my back burner look at cars like that

Manual, 85,000 miles, Yellow. 3x3 point rear seat belts, ABS, Alloy wheels, CD Player/changer, Body coloured bumpers, Climate control, Front airbags, usual vrs spec 1/2 leather, traction control etc, £4300

1.8 VRS - Usual VW build quality, goes like the proverbial. Looks excellent when dropped and can be remapped up to 200BHP for less than £500. Do it. You know you want to.

betty02
3rd December 2007, 12:09
Still think if you can get the funds then get a TT

One VRS doing the rounds at the moment is this one. (http://www.custom-code.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=46)

0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds
0-100 mph in 10.1 seconds
0-150 mph in 32 seconds
1/4 Mile in 13.1 seconds

Costs a few pennies, but you can always eat these...

306 GTI-6, old now, but 4k would buy a very low millage X plater. Best handing front driver IMO ever

Teggy type R

Accord Type R

BMW 328i

BMW 530i - I'm amazed at how cheap these are now. Rediculously good cars

Golf GTI MK4 of some nature

MX5 - NOT GAY. fact

Porsche 944 - High risk.

imprezza - Non modded classic would be cool

SaxoJamie

Dan

Agree with Vidal, although not in yellow. My dads got the black one, eats VTS and the like for breakfast, and it looks the nuts dropped 35mm over standard 17s, proper touring car look. Goes like the shizzle, Autocar timed 0-60mph in 6.7s and 0-100mph in 16.7s. VEry quick motor, plenty of toys and cheap these days. Only downside is the mediocre badge...

Tupps
3rd December 2007, 13:40
GavJapEye....

You know much about the stats regarding the headgaskets?

1 in 20 i think had a dodgy headgasket, only caused by skimpy maintenence and not checking the water levels etc?

Sounds alot 1 in 20 but if you look after it all is well with them

Mid engined rear wheel 2 seater convertible.....2002'ish with around 40k for 4 grand

Deal imo

Japman
3rd December 2007, 13:48
Nope but i know alot of mechanics that have them in as a weekly replair lol
Personally i like MG ZR's......nice loooking machine, pity about the engine

Yet i also know someone thats had a TF for 2 years,no problems at all

I have a mahoosive eye for a bargain....

Loan + Car sales company = Wedged Tuppence?

Chris
3rd December 2007, 14:07
172 = New Saxo

TF = The survey says "Eeet Urrt"

Astra Coupe = Only the 2.0l Turbo or the 2.2 are worth getting.

Octavia = Very nice car, all the mod cons, leather, great performance and it's a VW at the end of the day!!!

Golf = Nice cars, but a bit bland.

Chris :)

Cheers Chris...

A mate of mine just bought a 2004 coupe turbo, 18"s, stage 1 kit on it and its running 234bhp

Absolutly stunning car, if i was to get a coupe it'd have to be the turbo (which would mean a little more saving)

I paid £6500ish for mine... I'm 28 and I pay £300ish insurance... Tax is £205 a year... MPG isn't much... great car to drive and nice luxury feel if you get the full leather interior.... heated seats... cruise control... a/c... trip computer... loads more!!!

Chris :)

CampDavid
3rd December 2007, 14:21
Astra coupe is a fine barge, though I don't rate it's chances of keeping its value, the new VXR's price is in free fall, as are most turbo hatches

Save a little more and a nice 328i BMW could be yours

Tupps
3rd December 2007, 14:21
His is the same spec but its a 2004 with 30k miles.... and climate control instead of air con

Paid £6,500 for it
