Building new machine. All connected ok.

PSU powers up, all fans kick in, Graphics card (built in) doest bring monitor out of standby nor does it appear to bring Harddrives to power up.

Gay yes?

Does the pc work on other monitors?

Barry123

go to a minimal hardware install. I had time where a duff HD refused to let my comp start up

so just a single IDE device, cpu, psu, no other devices.

if you've got another g' card knocking around try that

Clouds_mate

tried different psu, one IDE device different IDE cable

unable to try different card as i dont have one in this fitment.

removed battery

loads of different shit.

Clouds_mate

also i doubt Hard drives have failed. as they havnt been removed from the case.

Seems very slim both brake.

Its from CCL. but its a good 30mins from my house and will have to go on my lunch. Its just massive hassles to get it sorted.

Is there a jumper that has to be set to use the on-board VGA?

Clouds_mate
4th December 2007, 21:07
Not that im aware of, but that wouldnt effect the hard drive power would it?

Alex
4th December 2007, 21:37
Are all the power plugs in correctly, 20pin 4pin etc.

I remember when i changed my CPU cooler i forgot to plug in the 4pin so when i tried to boot i got no display.

That sounds to me like faulty RAM ....... if it was faulty HDD the system would still boot to the BIOS screen.

If you have 2 sticks of RAM try each on their own, if you only have 1, try it in a different DDR Bank.

Never heard of a jumper on the board to enable onboard VGA its usually just default unless disabled in the BIOS.

I had a faulty motherboard which didnt boot before so that could be faulty if you have no luck with the RAM. Is the CPU brand new aswell?

It's pretty straight forward, main thing to watch out for is static electricity.

Also, I wouldn't have thought faulty memory would effect display output.

I cant say ive EVER come across an static electric problem, you can pritty much man handle all pc components and they will still work, those days are over! Never seen any techys using an anti-static wrist strap these days!

Its got to be faulty RAM, CPU or motherboard. Id say 80% of the time its faulty RAM though.

It is indeed but its highly unlikely ESD will be a problem these days unless you are REALLY heavy handed or decide to hoover the dust out of your case!!! lol - That has happened be4!

Try the RAM and get back to us

Tested with different ram as i bought more then 1 stick.

The system was ready built cpu and such all put together.

all that had to do was stick the mobo into the case.

So tested....

different harddrive
different IDE cables
different RAM
different PSU
removed Battary

erm think thats about it.

Cant think of anything else it could be? It just boots up no noise from anything apart from the fans in the system

Did you just say its beeping when its turning on? Is it a constant beeping? If it is then its the RAM.

Sounds like you have power issues :) Check the Watt's against the PSU and the motherboard. If there isnt enough power through the "homomobo" then it will not send the signal to the monitor to get it powered up, There is a jumper on M/b depending on the model if thats in the wrong place this will not send the signal to the monitor either.

Are there any LED's on the mobo? if so check the manual as they will flash in a specific order that tells you wat the problem may be. Or beeps...I havnt read every post about this as im late for work :)

Go through all the wiring one cable on the wrong way will cause endless problem and if this has happened chances are you could have fried the board already and its about as much use as tits on a goldfish

Clouds_mate
5th December 2007, 09:02
tested with a different PSU both powerful enough to run the system. Plus iv tested it without any other power outgoings just the mobo.

No beeps as i didnt connect the speaker to the case.

The manual is a big sheet of paper its shit and gives you no information at all.
